This essentially is the same pose and shot as my other one, this has been edited to use soft focus, colour preservation & tint as well as a recrop to bring you closer to the figure.
No real reason other than practice and checking out what those features in picassa do. :-) Isn't Firefly great?? :-p
Tried to set up to catch a meteor or two from the Persiads... a little cloudy, but thought it would be a nice shot if I got one. No meteors, but did catch a few fireflies. Next time.
For those curious, I thought I'd put up what the drawings look like before I start glazing in the colors. This is what you'd call a grisaille, an old monochromatic underpainting technique that sorts out the tones of a piece, so that from then on you focus on glazing in the colors. Instead of a grey, I used a dark brown colored pencil. I never use graphite, as I find it gets a little greasy under colored pencil, and has a dulling effect. The brown is warmer.
I don't use the grisaille technique very often, but I find it works really well with these brown bag drawings.

I've included photos of the tapas we got at Firefly*. Everything was brought out hot, they don't wait for one dish while the others cool off.
I had the blood orange Mojito. It was good. Didn't try the Sangria.
more firefly experimenting. this is 13 photos layered. It was almost dark to completely dark when these were taken. The exposures varied from 15 to 30 seconds.
The Pennsylvania Firefly is a devious bugger. It mimics the flashing style of other firefly species, and when the other firefly comes to investigate, instead of getting to mate, it ends up getting eaten. I've heard about this before, but this was the first time I've seen it.
