good year for fireflies, but I have trouble catching them

Hi I am Jens

I am a AFOL from Germany.

I have been building for many years but recently decided to post online. Sorry if my english is not the best.

Here is my firefly drone. He is a worker at a factory and one of my favourite models of mine.

Thanks for looking!

Here is another firefly larva I found in Ohio, crawling on the outside wall of a building at night.

This firefly (Lucidota atra) has reduced light organs (see ventral view adjacent to this one) and flashes little, if at all. It is day-flying. I see a few in my yard every year in June, flying about boldly--they surely have strong chemical protection. This one I captured, chilled, and posed in my specialized entomology photography stage--a white plastic container for take-out food. I can get just a couple of photos in a life-like pose with these before they scurry about very quickly as they warm up when they come out of the refrigerator.

The larvae of fireflies (beetles in the family Lampyridae) are easily recognized by their tiny heads on retractable necks, and by their shield-like dorsal plates. Lampyrids are also among the beetle grubs that use a retractable adhesive organ at the tip of their abdomen as a seventh leg when they walk. In some firefly species (trilobite beetles), the females retain their wingless, shield-backed grub shape even as reproductive adults.

Notice the fluttering of his wings modulating the light.

*Edit* - Ok so my bulb in my lamp blew :-( I can't use my light tent properly without my lamp. So i'm back to using the blue wall and white paper for now.

Even so the editing and work i done to turn this image i think was worth it. Firefly is my favourite all time version 1 figure. I'm known on message boards as Urban Saboteur. . owing to my fanatism for the Cobra Terrorist.
