This appliance started off life with the BAA Fire Service based at Stansted Airport before transferring to BAA Southampton. It was then sold off to Direct Flight who operate out of Cranfield Airport. Direct Flight operate a BAE 146 aircraft which is an Atmospheric Research Aircraft and whenever this aircraft is due in to land at Cranfield the CAA category is raised. The Cougar is therefore required to give the adequate fire protection needed.

I am assuming this station is run by "On-call" Firemen.
I was parked up in a lay-by next door when a guy ran past me at full speed holding a noisy
bleeper.
When I saw him run into the Fire Station, I thought..."Hello"??
Within 2 minutes some more men arrived, also at very high speed and the truck was ready to leave.
I am not sure how long it took them from receiving the call but they weren't hanging about..
Impressive stuff really!
