Springtime! They can walk around like this quite long.

Mostly you can see these bugs in couples.

Our neighbor admitted her husband did this. And he is a doctor at Stanford.

One of the many reasons I HATE American politics. For some reason, every election year, someone decides to do things like this ^. Some asshole lit the Republican candidate's sign on fire - in the middle of an extremely DRY season here in Los Altos. This moron could have burned down my neighborhood. Not only did they light it on fire, but they went up the road and took down Carly Fiorina's sign and dumped it in the creek behind this sign. All the Democratic candidate's signs are in tact and unscathed.

I'd notify the Sheriff, but it wouldn't do any good.

BTW, I'd be just as outraged if this were a Democratic candidate's sign. Freedom of speech is for EVERYONE.

Last year, I found some firebugs feasting on a juicy piece of spidermeat, but those bugs are merely vegetarian, and apart from lindenseeds, they are fond of the seeds of Malvaceae, like this hollyhock.

it is a firebug! we have like a gazillion million trillion in our garden!

The white minivan in the center is where the fire was set. The residents of the building said it had been stored and sat there for over a year.

This firebug set the winter on fire because spring has finally arrived. Right on time for the official start of spring tomorrow.

A few days on the Amalfi Coast with Naturetrek.

That same day when I returned, I noticed the minivan (where the fire was set) was gone. It sat in this now empty stall and was taken away by the arson unit for further investigation.
