There was a fire set in a minivan that was parked in between the silver Mazda and dark blue Jetta. The van was taken away by the arson unit for further investigation.

A little insect, about 10-15mm long, very common in SW France on sunny days. I have never seen one fly, so they probably can't. The French call them "gendarmes" because like the police, you see them more on sunny days, but I would like to know their proper name so I can submit a photo to EOL.org if possible. Thanks!

Un gendarme en faction sur ma terrasse en teck.... et comme pour un instant il a bien voulu... ne pas bouger (peu évident par certaines températures) j'ai au moins (enfin) une belle vue de la peau de sa tête--- quelque part je me dis "tiens, le mec qui a fait le film atomic circus il a pô dû chercher loin certaines inspirations..... À regarder en taille max, merci pour vos commentaires... ;.)
A firebug on my terrace. He was so friendly and stopped for a while so finally I have a clear shot of its leather-like face. And a scary eye :-) OMG i'm gonna have some trouble to fall asleep after this one.
