My old '73 Firebird Esprit I drove back in high school. 350 cubic inches with a turbo 350 trans. I installed a B&M shifter, shift kit, trans cooler, traction bars, a killer sound system, Goodyear Eagle GTs with the letters facing out and Pontiac mud flaps.
The back seat was loaded with those suitcase style casette holders loaded with my tunes. Oh yeah don't forget the faux leather steering wheel cover.
I shot these in '88 with a Nikon F1 in black and white then processed the pics in the photo lab in school.

'Firebird' is the name given by many to the statue outside the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Uptown Charlotte, NC.
It's real name is 'Le Grand Oiseau de Feu Sur l’Arche',” or 'The Large Bird of Fire on the Arch'.

I can only imagine what pyrokinetic goodness is getting packed under this baby's hood for The Crucible's upcoming Stravinsky Firebird ballet. I also wonder if seeing this ride sitting it a lot somewhere wasn't the inspiration for the whole production...

The Pontiac Firebird was built by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. The Firebird was introduced the same year as the automaker's platform-sharing model, the Chevrolet Camaro. This coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang.
The vehicles were powered by various four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and V8 engines sourced from several GM divisions. While primarily Pontiac-powered until 1977, Firebirds were built with several different engines from nearly every GM division until 1982 when GM began to discontinue engines it felt were unneeded and either spread successful designs from individual divisions among all divisions or use new engines of corporate architecture.
