I take pictures because I like it, not because I am good at it.

A second one from yesterday's session. Took me a day to set up and many attempts to get the timing right.
Difficult shot to get in a tight space, was concerned I was going to set the shed on fire.
I was one of several Alberta Aurora Chasers that captured this stunning meteor at 12:29AM Sept 1 2016, even more amazing it is the second time I have caught a fireball over a Barn. flic.kr/p/BKC6Zu The Blue flash was so bright it turned the clouds blue. The aurora was pretty good too:)

The Sun at 5:39 a.m. - June 6, 2023
My dear Flickr friends, I present to you the intense fireball we call our sun, rising over the mists of the Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin.
I arrived before dawn and had discovered a pair of Trumpeter swans feeding in a canal close to the path I was walking. Intent on capturing these beautiful birds in the early morning light, I hadn't noticed the sunrise.
Two other factors contributed to my not noticing the sun-- a heavy mist that shrouded it, as well as the particulates in the air due to the raging Canadian wildfires.
When I finally looked up into the sky, this is the scene that I witnessed! An orange ball surrounded by hazy and colorful purples and blues... This was 26 minutes after sunrise.
Captured at a focal length of 750mm, then generously cropped, the sun appears in all its glory, and it is displaying six or seven clearly visible sunspots on its surface.
The average sunspot is about the diameter of our earth, so about 8,000 miles across. The largest sunspot ever recorded was almost 89,000 miles across.
Enjoy this celestial wonder, and have a great weekend, everyone!
The particulates in the air due to the Canadian wildfires is causing the sun to be seen in an almost filter effect, especially at sunrise and sunset.
Here it goes down between the trees, giving it natural framing on both sides.

Enjoy, and have a great week everyone!

Things you wake up for...sunrise and good company.
Celebrated my bestfriend's birthday over the weekend at the beach. We have been friends since we were 6 yrs old...In this world of impermanence, i think that is worth something.
And yes..born under the fire sign, she is a fireball 😁
From way back at the Light Painting World Alliance PNW meetup. With TJ Legler, Dan Whitaker, Andrius Sprindys, and Johnathan Lloyd. I am heading back that way and do not plan to spin at all due to the conditions. We are very careful where we spin and how we do it and this was months ago. What I would like to do is to get together some best practices and advice from fire profesionals to make sure we can be as safe as possible when spinning steel wool or playing with fireworks. I think a safety manual should be number 1 in google searches when you look up steel wool spinning. Let me know what you think or any fire professionals who might give some advice on this subject.
