Grandson Calvin was the lucky winner of the fleuri, or good luck coin in the Vasilopita this year.
Two days remain before the big band kicking sale for the new location for the Comic Shop.
Things are all over the place and it's hectic trying to sort out just where the pieces fall in line.
There were little crabs all over on the beach up to 1" big. It was quite the hit for a few minutes!

We had been to Misaki, the little fishing town on the tip of the Miura penninsula South of Tokyo, several times in the last 5 years and always been told that it was a good place to catch a view of Fujisan when conditions were right, but we had no luck. Since the optimal time is usually in the winter, we weren't expecting much when we arrived in late March this year. But Monday morning the 22nd dawned clear and sunny so I took my usual morning walk down to the nearby harbor to look at the fishing boats and what might be worth capturing with my camera. I noticed nothing different as I walked down the path which I thought was leading West to where Fujisan might appear over some distant hills. I looked around the harbor itself and saw the same familiar scene and decided there would be no luck this morning either. As I turned to start back up the path and go in search of other sights worth capturing, I looked out to sea for the first time and was dumbfounded. There was a large snow capped mountain looming on the distant shore of what I thought was Tokyo Bay. My normally reliable sense of direction had completely failed me and I realized I was in fact looking West over Sagami Bay and seeing the near perfect form of Fujisan on the horizon. I had finally "found" Fujisan (or maybe it found me).
The Finding Nemo sub was stationary so I able to get this cool picture. I really like all the lights that can be seen under the water and in the back ground.
The following two photos are from Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. This was surprisingly my first time on the attraction (I've been at Disneyland for the last four years). For the amount of complaints I've heard: "it smells", "it's cramped", "it's not that great" - I was pretty impressed...
Call me a sucker for undersea attractions, or maybe it was the "Bioshock" type feel when going into or coming out of the sub, I just can't put my finger on it...
Anyway, I primarily worked on this photo in Lightroom 4, using my "Captain Nemo" preset. Some slight touch-ups were made in Photoshop, but what you are looking at is a labor of love.

...and since it's one of my favorite Pixar movies, I thought I'd commemorate it with a photo of all my Finding Nemo plushies. :)
Finding a Guru: My spiritual teacher, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa of Bengal, died 67 years before my birth. Initially this posed some difficulty in our relationship, but with time we developed a companionable rapport.
[Sri Ramakrishna was a great saint of India, who attained successive enlightenments by pursuing multiple spiritual paths, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, thereby becoming a living embodiment of religious harmony. His premier student, Swami Vivekananda, helped introduce Hinduism to the western world at the beginning of the 20th century.]
Taken underwater, looking up at a swim ring, with my son's Fujifilm XP.
Update:
This is for a SOOC (straight out of camera) assignment, so it hasn't yet been edited.
My 5 year old son was obsessed with the water slide at the Boardwalk's pool, so I got swim ring babysitting duty as he went down the slide over and over. Since I had a waterproof camera, I was goofing off taking some water pictures. I have another of the bottom of the pool where it's orange shadow is cast on the bottom with the water shadows/highlights which is pretty cool also.

The stony Hamada desert in south-western Algeria may seem an unlikely setting for the UN's second longest unresolved conflict and Africa's last decolonial war. There's no running water, sudden rainfall turns the area into a flood bowl sweeping everything in its path. Stinging sandstorms scour the desert floor and even livestock have a hard time finding sustenance among the few plants hardy enough to grow in the bleak, flat landscape.
