Had to get the figurative WD40 out on the old camera gear! Bonus for getting out early, for the first time in a long time, was watching a kingfisher streak across the lake (not in this photo unfortunately), first one I've ever seen at this location and a very welcome sight.
Day now, night now, at head, side, feet,
They stand their vigil in gowns of stone,
Mouthless, eyeless, with stitched bald head.
Faces blank as the day I was born.
Their shadows long in the setting sun
That never brightens or goes down.
And this is the kingdom you bore me to,
Mother, mother. But no frown of mine
Will betray the company I keep.
(Sylvia Plath)
Heading out of the ranges, figuratively and literally, this mural (one of three today) shows a steam train emerging from the Kalpowar Tunnel in its namesake township. This small town was on the former Gladstone to Monto line.
Well known mural artist Drapl painted this super work.
Guess I will let you figure it out, the name that is....Figuratively speaking ......guess it figures huh.

'The Death of Mary' by Hugo van der Goes is one of the most important works in Musea Brugge's world-renowned collection of Flemish primitives. Between 2018 and 2022, the painting underwent an intensive restoration, and the result is stunning. From autumn 2022, the masterpiece will therefore literally and figuratively take centre stage in this top exhibition in St John's Hospital.
