The RCAF CF-18 Hornet demo during the 2023 Abbotsford Airshow. The Cf-18s are now due to be replaced by the new CF-35 Lightnings by 2027 making this years airshow one of the last few times that they'll be at Abbotsford. It'll be sad to see them go when they're finally retired.

The plane that I was most excited to see fly at the airshow this year! A restored Mikoyan Mig-17 Fresco flying during the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was unique to see this Cold War era jet. The Mig-17 was actually the most feared fighter plane for a time. No NATO fighters were able to beat it until the F4 Phantom II entered service in the 1960s. It was still cool to see and just as intimidating as it was back in it's prime.
A US Navy E/A18G Growler flying during the Growler demo at the 2025 Abbotsford Airshow. It was loud and the pilots didn't hold back. I can still hear the afterburners when I look at these shots.

A USAF F35 Lightning II performing during the Lightning demo at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was an awesome demo, it was cut short however due to technical problems. A warning light came on and the pilot had to land. That said she put on a good show, didn't hold back, and she nearly broke the sound barrier.

I’m in the Air Force, worked with 22’s and every pilot I’ve talked to talks like this. Super knowledgable of their aircraft and very, very down to earth. I’ve heard stories of people meeting the super douche pilots, but I haven’t come across one yet. Definitely Type A personalities but really chill. Heavies pilots are like the introverts but still really fucking cool.
I support F-16’s now and gained a whole new respect for that. 22 will always have a special place in my heart bc they’re badass but 16’s aren’t even supposed to fly on paper. It’s all thrust that keeps that thing in the air. It’s wild. The wing span is insanely short.
I love fighters. I was supposed to get an incentive flight twice in a 16 but something came up so I got passed over. Sucks. Maybe one day.

Val-Halla, a restored P51 Mustang, flying at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was supposed to be taking part in the USAF Heritage Flyover alongside the F35 Lightning II but the F35 hand to land due to technical problems so Val-Halla flew on it's own while the RCAF Snowbirds prepared for their performance. Val-Halla was named for both it's pilots Bill Anders wife Valerie and for the Black Knights P51 squadron that was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland during the Cold War.
A restored USAF P38 Lightning from WWII flying during the Warbirds demo at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It flew alongside an F4U Corsair and a P51 Mustang.
North American Aviation created the P-51 Mustang in response to a British requirement during 1940. Originally powered byan AllisonV-1710 engine, P-51B and P-51C versions were the first tobe equipped with a Rolls Royce Merlin powerplant which greatly increased performance at high altitudes. Additional improvements appeared on the P-51D, which this represents. A bubble canopy (not shown) was fitted on a cut down fuelage spine, and this provided excellent visability for the pilot. Firepower was increased from four .50-caliber machine guns in the P-51B/C to six in the P-51D. The P-51D was the final Mustang variant to see combat during World War 2/Holocaust, and it was considered to be one of the most successful fighters of that era.
The Big Beautiful Doll, flown by Lt. Col. John D. Landerswhile he was assigned to the 84th fighter Squadron of the 78th Fighter Group. Landers was the 78th Fighter Group's commanding officer, and he is credited with 37 victories. Six against the Japanese, and 31 against the Nazis.
