North Wales Military Aviation Services Ltd owns this BAC 167 Strikemaster Mk82A serial number 425, is a former Royal Air Force of Oman and the scheme is from the 1980’s.It was purchased from Oman in 2004. Civil Registration is G-SOAF
After his 70th kill, Richthofen was recommended to receive the oakleaves to the plm but finally this was rejected by emperor Wilhelm II because of the regulations of the Order pour le mérite. According to these regulations the oakleaves recipient had to win a battle. "Richthofen won a lot of battles!", General Ludendorff shouted. But nothing came of it..the Militaer-Cabinet awarded him the Red-Eagle-Order 3rd class with crown and swords (awarded only 10 times ever in this combination) instead of the much more often awarded oakleaves.

Actor John Phillip Law was instrumental in creating a lasting motion-picture monument to the legendary Red Baron. In his own inimitable style, he brought Manfred von Richthofen to life in the best possible way. Without a doubt, the 1971 film Von Richthofen and Brown should prove to be Law's most enduring work — It's not just an inspired movie... it's the Red Baron film.
John Phillip Law passed away May 13, 2008, possibly without even knowing that VR&B was his career defining masterpiece — Belatedly, the film is experiencing a renaissance with home video audiences worldwide.

Ormond was a friend of my fathers back in the early 1970s when this photo was taken by my dad in the spring of 1971 at Vancouver airport. Ormond was shuttling between Cold Lake AFB in Alberta and Vancouver usually in a T-33 (sometimes an CF-5) and would work on the refurbishment of his Hawker Sea Fury that was hangared at the CP Hangar. I tagged along with my dad on many visits to see Ormond and sometimes he came to our home. I was only 15 years old at the time and he was always patient and helpfull in satisfying my enthusiasm for all things aviation and gave me (I still have) an old WWII leather flying helmet and an oxygen mask dating from the 70s as used by the RCAF, Ormond was killed while flying a P-51 Mustang on July 3, 1977 in Germany.

Photographed just a couple of weeks after it was unveiled in September 2005, the Battle of Britain Memorial on Victoria Embankment, London W1 is a tribute to the pilots who fought in the campaign of Summer 1940, effectively thwarting Nazi hopes of overcoming Great Britain’s resistance to their aims of European conquest. At the Memorial’s centre is a sculpture of airmen scrambling for their aircraft during the attritional battle. The Memorial lists 2,936 pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain on the Allied side. The sculptor of the Memorial is Paul Day.

At a restaurant in Stans - 2 Mirage III's exposed. Their home base at the dissolution was the Military Airfield at Buochs, where ist was equipped with Mirage IIIRS . Fliegerstaffel 10 carried as their coat of arms the AMIR badge (AMIR = Aufklärer Mirage (reconnaissance Mirage)). This badge shows on a white ground a falcon head drawn with black lines, the neck of which is filled with blue color.
I came across this in my basement, it was sitting in boxes of forgotten work. Francis "Gabby" Gabreski was the top scoring American fighter ace in the ETO during WWII, having downed 34.5 aircraft in aerial combat. He is one of only seven U.S. combat pilots to become an ace in two wars. He lived from January 28, 1919 - January 31, 2002. Gouache on board, 8.75" x 6.25"

The sight of Spitfires escorting Lancasters - and in daylight - might seem highly unusual but operations like this were part of the massive Allied air effort against German forces after D-Day in 1944.
From Leo McInstrey's book 'Lancaster': " ... as the number of daylight raids increased, the Lancasters received fighter cover from the RAF for the first time in the war. 'The Spitfires were a very welcome sight and would accompany you to the target,' said Bob Knights of 617 Squadron."
