Powering into the air and ripping a hole through the sky and my ears. I love the colours of the burners on those RB199 engines: the red core and the blue fringes on the edges. Note the double slotted Fowler flaps, an unusual item to find on a fighterjet. The Tornado has no ailerons, instead is uses wing spoilers and differentially actuated slab stabilizers (sometimes called tailerons). Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 51 Immelmann Black Panther special paint scheme.

While we were eating supper, fighter jets began to roar over our house - over & over! I spotted 3 in formation out the window. This isn't normal since we live out in the "country" - so I knew it was the Thunderbirds practicing for the Super Bowl tomorrow. I ran outside just in time to get one of their last pass-overs directly over us - from south to north. Four were flying in formation with one or two trailing behind. Big sports day in the USA tomorrow - have fun!
