The Navy made aviation history Nov. 3 as an F-35C Lightning II carrier variant Joint Strike Fighter conducted its first arrested landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) off the coast of San Diego. The arrested landing is part of initial at-sea Developmental Testing I (DT-I) for the F-35C, which commenced Nov. 3 and is expected to last two weeks. Learn more: bit.ly/1qq8ifx

I have to say that I am pretty chuffed with myself for capturing this photo. I was tracking this CF-18 Hornet as it was passing at a high rate of speed. I managed to capture some excellent images and then it passed behind a tree. I was prepared to delete the tree shots when I discovered that I'd actually nailed focus and framing right through the foliage. Not bad! I didn't even need to crop the resulting image.

using a teleconverter give you reach, my 70-200mm become a 400 plus if we count the crop sensor, but the downside is a loss of pixel and overwhelming softens.
