The iconic Flanker roaring into the sky and flying into the sun like Ikarus. I love the heat effect of the exhaust plume of the afterburner turning the air into jelly. Powered by two Lyulka/Saturn Al-31F afterburning turbofan engines developing 123 kN each. I did close my right eye, as the magnifying effect of the SLR camera can cause retinal burns if pointed at the sun. The silhouette of the Flanker is beautiful, elegant and unmistakable. Evening display during Bucharest International Air Show 2016. Explored 8th January 2017.

F35 at RAF Marham.
I was out for a wander around some woodland in Norfolk when I heard 8 consecutive roars that could only come from fighter jets. A quick google maps check showed that I was 10 minutes from RAF Marham, so I headed off to check it out.
I’ve never seen so many photographers in one place before (Malham Lone Tree maybe an exception) and after chatting about the jets I was told they were F-35s. What an absolute beast of a machine!!!!!! I stood and watched all 8 come in to land, most of the pilots clearly showing off to the cameras as they came in (who wouldn’t?).
Managed to get this one with some nice colour in the background and the jet fuel haze clearly showing.
Wikipedia: The Messerschmitt Me 262, nicknamed Schwalbe (German for "Swallow") in fighter versions, or Sturmvogel ("Storm Bird") in fighter-bomber versions, is a fighter aircraft and fighter-bomber that was designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt. It was the world's first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft and one of two jet fighter aircraft types to see air-to-air combat in World War II, the other being the Heinkel He 162.

These were two of the group of red arrows that performed over the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022. I was hoping to get a shot of two of them, and was pleasantly suprised that I managed this one.

The painted jet showed off its colors on Saturday before being grounded due to mechanical issues. It did not fly on Sunday. Safety first.
Snowbirds...
From the archives:
The Toronto Pearson International Airport is always is a hive of activity with planes taking off every 70 seconds; but it is even more so when the Toronto International Air Show is in Town.
The world famous Canadian Snowbirds did a fly by; just before landing they flew a circuit prior to final approach. Even the Jets stacked up on the runways that were waiting for them to land enjoyed the show. While hundreds of photographers on the ground also got the thrill of a life time as they cruised less than a hundred feet over our heads releasing smoke and thundering past in perfect formation.

...which way are we going?!
The "Patrouille de France" came to do their annual show at the beach this weekend. Yesterday was more for information and the like, whereas today was the actual airshow.
We decided to give yesterday a miss and go down today to watch the fun. However while I was in the garden yesterday - without my camera a Jet flew right over the garden.
Sadly Graham didn't feel up to coming down and when I arrived at the beach it looked as though it was going to pour down ... see following photo, thankfully it cheered up.
Not sure if this is the best photo I got as I haven't sorted them all out yet, but it is one I like.
Much better viewed large.

Thank you for your favourites. :O)
A little different than my normal photos, but I like this shot. My wife and I were heading out for an Alaskan wilderness experience. Eielson AFB was having an airshow so they closed down the Richardson Highway while the show was on. (the highway parallels the runway about an eighth mile away) So instead of just sitting there, took a few photos, this one being my favorite.
