Yesterday I posted a picture of Hester's parlor mirror which is now in our bedroom. This is Hester Ann Ellingwood Fifield's gravestone.
When Hester died in 1895 many of her belongings went to my great-grandmother, Rose Ella Andrews, who had been raised in New Hampshire by Gram and Gramp Fifield. As far as I know neither Gram nor Gramp Fifield was a blood relative.
To make the story more intriguing, Rose Ella's mother, Alvina Frost (cousin of poet Robert Frost's father), had in rural Maine also been raised by Gram and Gramp Fifield.

"The child is almost certainly a girl, and I'd guess this to be the 1880s based on the fashion. Those brass buttons were in style, and not necessarily military related. The girl and the woman look alike, so I'd guess them to be blood relations." -- lauralemur'

An unidentified family likely in New Hampshire or Maine. The photo is from the album of Gram Fifield (1820-1895). The picture would seem to be from the 1870s.

A small village set high above the Evenlode valley on the border of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Recorded in Domesday as Fyfhide or five hides (600 acres), the manor was held by Henrici de Ferriers a Norman knight.
The church is 13th century in origin and has an unusual 14th century octagonal west tower. The south porch is also of interest as it has a roof of stone slabs carried on a single arch, it is believed to date from Early English period, the13th century. The south-west chancel window has two heraldic shields, one is of the Zouche family and dates from the 13th century.

Designed in the Romanesque style by architects Fisher & Lawrie and constructed as a one-story building in 1899. It was also used as a community hall and theater. The roof was raised and a second story was added in 1908.
In 1948 the facade was remodeled, removing the building's arched entryway, and it became the home of a long--time furniture store that closed in May 2021. As of December 2024, the building was for sale at a list price of $149,900.
Sculpt update on Kane's Death Shroud - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting detail over the frame I created early last week. The top portion of the shroud will be separate, attached by magnets. Created a thin shell/frame for this piece to be sculpted over later. The head sculpt of Kane will easily be seen through the shroud, along with a variant that is similar to the sculpt for the prop miniature. More sculpt work needed and tons of detail to be added. #alien #nostromo #kane #deathshroud #chestburster #sculpture #avesfixit #deletedscene

St Mary's dominates the village of Newton Regis and serves the most northerly parish in Warwickshire.
The building itself is aisleless but with a later clerestorey and quite light inside, being mainly plain glazed except for the odd medieval fragment here and there and two recent windows by Warwickshire based artist Roger Fifield.
The outstanding medieval feature here however is on the north side of the sanctuary, a highly unusual 14th century priest's tomb in a recess with a slab in high relief portraying a praying bust of the deceased amidst canopywork (inhabited by angels) with two kneeling mourners below, a unique composition as far as I know, worn but still enjoyable.

We have a similar mirror that had belonged to Gram Fifield (Hester Ellingwood Fifield, 1820-1895).
The mirror in the photo was in a house furnished as it might have been in 1840.
