Visited the Woodinville Lavender Farm during our Seattle visit. The lavender scent and the purple color blow your mind away. If you have a couple of hours to spare when you are in the area, check out these farms.

luckily Leyla Torres has made a great video tutorial for the flower. you can find it here.
it's pretty clear that for a tessellated version you can only use the center part. what you get are big triangles which are connected by the cool wreath structures. the question remains: how far apart should you place the wreaths? if you place them further part you get nice negative space triangles on the back, but on the fornt the wreaths look a bit lost, too, among all the empty space.
of course I had to fold both versions of the pattern. the denser version on the left is probably closer to the original field flower. but eventually I cannot decided which one I like more ;-)
I used rotated triangle grids, ie. the grid is not parallel to the paper edges but rotated by 30°. (have a look a Sara Adams' video for the Triphilia pattern for reference.) this way I could find some nice, regular borders.
these pictures were taken with the automatic colour balance setting of my camera. that's why the colours are wrongly tinted bronze/gold. in reality the model is white (because of course I used my trusted sandwich paper).
I have pictures with a corrected colour balance, too, which show the right colour. I couldn't decide which pictures I prefer. so I did a poll among friends. the results weren't quite clear either. and that's why you get to see both version :-)
A "Pachamanca" is a traditional, ceremonial feast in which lamb, chicken, potatoes, plantain and vegetables are cooked using hot rocks in a pit dug in the earth that is then covered with grasses. The meat is falling-off-the-bone tender and everything seems to taste twice as delicious. We enjoyed a Pachamanca along the shore of beautiful Lake Piuray in the Sacred Valley of the Inca in the shadow of the Andes Mountains.

Lavender fields near Sault, Provence, France on the "route du lavandre" (Lavender Road). These are fields for producing oil on a big scale, so the color of the flowers is a bit muted, but the smell is amazing.

A beautiful field somewhere in the Jura, France.
3 shot HDR, some crossprocessing, and some post-editing to get the old postcard feel. :-)
This Franciscan chapel in Beit Sahour (near Bethlehem) is built over the reputed site where angels appeared to shepherds announcing the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.
On the left, Horseman 45HF (4x5 format, 1983-85) and on the right the Horseman VH (6x9 format, 1975-?). Despite the difference in formats and about 10 years in manufacture, the front standards are identical. Both use the same 80 x 80 mm lens boards, allowing the photographer to shoot multiple formats with only one set of lenses. I own a Horseman 6x12 roll film back which is how I normally shoot the 45HF.
The 45HF has several refinements lacking in the VH. One visible here is the bubble level, a nice feature.
The sky had been grey and overcast all day, but for a few minutes it cleared enough to give a nice red sky. It was hard to keep the camera steady as I only had my mini Joby tripod with me as I wasn't expecting a nice sunset.
I must`ve walked around this whole field looking for a good composition....
I really loved the way cut down barley curved into the shot :-)

This handsome fella came over to say hello when stopped by his field at Botolphs, this evening. He seemed to welcome me giving him some of the long stem grass out of his reach beyond the fence.
Sunrise from Round Bald, Roan Highlands.
I made it up on the mountain well before sunrise and searched around a long time trying to find a composition I was happy with, I even hiked up onto Jane Bald before the sunrise but ended up making my way back to Round Bald. I didn't see this comp until the sun came up and started lighting up the grasses, by that time I had almost let the sun get too high in the sky since I had to switch back to my wide-angle lens.
