Wildflower Field: The Australian Botanic Garden.

"Paper daisy" beds between Lake Sedgwick and the Connections Garden. The flowers are grown from seeds which originated in Western Australia.

''POPPY FIELD ABSTRACT''

This is one for my ''Finding Flowers'' Series.

I first lay in the colors by flowing, dragging, spraying, tipping paper and any other method I think of at the time..:)

Then I find JOY in finding the flowers...♥

This abandoned farm house is near Camrose, Alberta just off Hwy 21, which is a great highway for abandoned buildings - especially once you are north of Alix.

Field Horsetail / equisetum arvense. Stanton Canal, Derbyshire. 08/04/20.

The Field Horsetail produces two very different stalks. One is a fertile 'joint grass' which appears in April. The other is a sterile 'horse tail'.

My image shows a fertile stalk with a cone-like structure at the top. If viewed large, the spore producing scales on the cone are clearly visible. The spores are accommodated in small bands which unwrap in dry weather and act as parachutes enabling them to disperse on the wind.

In time the spores germinate into a thallus, cross-fertilise and develop into new plants.
