Saw this two weeks ago while on a hunt for butterflies...A friend of mine ID'd it for me. I had hoped to get back to see it fully in bloom, but so far that hasn't happened...it looks like an alien:).

Well, I'm back in snowy and cold Idaho. I must say that while the winter may not be as pleasant as in sunny California, I am grateful for the variety and unique beauty of nature in all seasons of the year!

It finally snowed for the first time this winter, got half an inch at sunrise, by noon it was just a trace due to the ground temperature despite the windchill is 8 degrees F. Field Lark hunkering in for and waiting for the 65 degrees coming Saturday.
Cabbage White (Pieris rapae)
I took some time out today for a walk to Sneydes Rd. Parts of the paddock are full of Dandelions, and Cabbage White Butterflies feasting.
