Lately I've been working in close to the dogs with a 30mm lens. This was made from about one meter away.
This is a fidget toy, the hexagonal sections shown are individual pieces of plastic and move independently. It can be turned into a cone pointing up, or down. The hexagonal shapes can also be turned creating various shapes (see the link below).
They come in various colours and some are even pearlescent, the colours change in the light as they move when played with.

This is a 3D printed fidget thingy that you fidget with. lol.. It's in the shape of a star. I used filament with lots of sparkly gold within. Zoom in and you can see all the layers. I'm still learning but am having lots of fun. Hope you like. Happy LCoF.
It's amazing how long these things spin! The fidget spinner is a classic fad which seems to have about run its course.
It's the boy again. He's so photogenic and it is Caturday after all.

He's moving to Scotland next week, lots of unfamiliar surroundings and things for him to smell and explore in his new home.
Fidget is back from being spayed. She's eating and drinking, is safe and well-loved, but it has been a long day.
Galumphing over for a hug yesterday afternoon.
We've been combing for a month, but she still has most of her winter coat.

This is the newest fad amongst middle school children. It is the bane of all middle-school teachers right now. It is called "The Fidget". You hold the toy between two fingers and set the wings spinning. The wings are weighted and there are ball bearings to make the toy spin for a very long time. I'm sure all the teachers now have quite the collection of these!!
Most of all, Fidget has found something of a brand new sister in the youngest member of the human family; Holly Mirza.
There, Fidget was able to stay with the family while Alice went to work. The situation worked out especially well as Anita Cullen was one of the most famed and respected roboticists in the field, and could perform regular maintenance on either Fidget or Alice if need be.
Still fidgeting with the Fuji to figure out which combination of settings is going to work best ( Manual mode is out, to quirky and slow ) I am still going to be using the Canons.
A candy cane bribe and a gentle reminder from Fidget that her Santa hat has been on the needles all of December and Time's almost up!
(Not sure I'll get it done in time.)
Yes, can you stay still a moment...and stop fidgeting!!

This light-trail is created as my "home-made motorized one-armed fidget spinner" slowly spins while rotating on a record turntable under a long LED light bar. The exposure is 2 seconds long at f/22, ISO 100. Black velvet is used for the background.

I made this abstract pattern with a shiny "fidget spinner", spinning while it sits off-center on a turntable at 33RPM, under a 10-inch RGB LED "ring-light" with the colors rotating around the ring. So there are "three degrees of spinnery-ness" here, which combine to leave a light-trail that produces the geometric pattern we see here. This image comes from the negative of the original photo.
The original photo is two seconds long, f/8, ISO-100.

It's Saint John's Eve, the traditional night for midsummer bonfires.
Two days after the solstice, when sunset reaches its maximum northern excursion (23.5 degrees) from equinox sunset.
One day before the Feast of Saint John, six months before Christmas, the opposite pole of the year.
Summer is in its full power. Fidget says that everything is golden, and Fidget knows.
Llwyngwril Space Systems, ever up to the zeitgeist, hep to the groove, down with the kids and generally up-to-date with the latest trends have decided to build one of those fidget spinner flying machines that appear in the latest Blade Runner film and everybody else is building. To have done anything else would have made us look unfashionably obsolete, like some road-kill on the info-bahn. After all, our design team have seen things you people wouldn't believe (but those are mainly in the notorious Land Vehicle Design Department's special shed) and are constantly striving to make them a reality in ABS bricks.

I'm back from my month trip to Ontario visiting family and my sister Donna. She has advanced dementia and now has been placed in a long term care home. 😞
When I visited her at her home before she moved I took a picture of her poppies (her faves) against her brick wall. Her daughter asked me to make her a fidget quilt. My first square is that picture. I will make a lap one about 3'x3', this one measures 12"x12" so I have 8 more to make. I'll enjoy making it for her but it really saddens me to see my sister like this. I know there is no going back and have to keep the good memories with me. I'll keep a special memory with me that my last visit with her was a very happy one. Although she didn't know me she was comfortable having me around. We have been photography buddies for over 40 years.
For awhile at least. I took this one of Fidget at dusk two days ago. We're back to 95F/35C highs for a few days.
The newspaper (headline and lede) says it's the worst continental US drought since the 1950's.
But if you read down to paragraph 12 or so the author finally tells you that it's only the 10th worst drought since 1895. It turns out that it has been wetter than usual for the last 40 years.

I was using an ND 4 filter here tripod mounted f29 at a second exposure. I didn't realise the seals would be fidgeting quite so much virtually none of them were still, not only are flippers being waved but heads shaken and rudders rocked. I loved the lighting so have put it up anyway but generally not enough is sharp, of course the concrete Pill Box is!
