Seen here in her summer outfit. We clipped her extra short since she won't be spending nights out next winter and as part of her "hot spot" (canine pyoderma) treatment.
For comparison, her winter gear is here.
Here we're getting a look at the G12 in less than optimal conditions. It's shot raw at ISO 200, 140mm-equivalent focal length and f/8. That's the worst aperture and the worst focal length in terms of resolution. I ran out of zoom and had to crop, so we're using only 40% of the sensor's pixels. The contrast range is pretty brutal, and I used no NR or sharpening.
Chroma noise is the nemesis of compact cameras at increased ISO, and there's very little of it here. Luminance noise and lens blur make the image look a little soft even in the center of the frame. Even so, I think you could wring an 8"x10" print out of this image without noticing too much wrong with it.
So far every picture has required 5%-10% amber (Wratten #85) filtration to restore the color balance. The color seems OK otherwise.

Molly. Mouse, Fidget.
Fidget and Mouse are Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs who protect pastured poultry at our farm.
Do you remember these from a few years ago? A fidget spinner in motion. I took many pictures as it slowed down and eventually chose this one. HMM!!

Hope you all love this and stay warm out there!
At dusk today. She will look like herself again in the morning. As Molly says, Fidget is not a dog. Fidget is an ecosystem.
Taken with a new pocket cam, the Panasonic ZS7 (known as the TZ10 in EU).
My little canon SX-110 died this week, a casualty of two years of almost daily pocket carry on the farm.
Sometimes Parrot can turn the Fidget Spinner (by accident).
Mostly gets angry and push it off the table.
If Parrot is good, she can get some new toys like a calculator or old remote controllers.
I can't be down so long as it's unlike Parrot.
Our experiences of Fidget and Mouse are mostly of the sort pictured above: Two gigantic, galumphing furballs queued up for hugs.
But of course they have a serious mission protecting their flock from foxes, coyotes, stray dogs, and yes ... hawks.
Last week I was walking up the steep hill to the chicken pasture with a bucket of canning scraps for the hens. Just as my head reached ground level in the pasture, Maudie Goose gave an alarm call and all three geese went airborne.
Fidget and Mouse sounded off and ran at top speed for the center of the pasture. A big hawk boiled out of the grass flying nearly straight up, followed in an arc by Mouse leaping into the air.
Mouse missed her by less than a foot, then both dogs chased her into the overhanging trees. They barked and bounded beneath her until she flew off to the east.
Elapsed time: Maybe three seconds, long enough for me to drop the vegetables and take two steps.
Nobody got hurt.
Irie is a Red Star rescue hen who was wounded by a wandering dog a month ago. She recovered in a cage in our sunroom and returned to the pasture today.
When a new bird joins the flock, Fidget and Mouse corral it and lick it from end to end. This is is an absolutely non-negotiable initiation ritual.
The Pyrs never use their teeth on the bird, and in fact they don't even open their mouths until they have it corraled. Then and only then, they give it a thorough bath.

These 'fidget poppers' seem to be all the rage, and are available in almost every shop you walk into these days, although I find a bit of bubble wrap to be more satisfying...........
Another abstract pattern I made with a shiny "fidget spinner", spinning while it sits off-center on a turntable covered by a black-velvet sheet and rotating at 33RPM, under a 10-inch RGB LED "ring-light" with the colors rotating around the ring.
The original photo is two seconds long, f/8, ISO-100. Post-processing involves only some brightness/contrast adjustments.

Spinning these things really do help relax you. I have a bunch of them and line my desk at work with them and spin away the stress of the day.

Molly clipped Fidget and Mouse this weekend. In past years we combed and curried, but never clipped, which is sort of a purist approach.
Last year both dogs got hot spots as the weather warmed up, so we wanted to keep them cooler and drier this year.
Mouse and Fidget look like smaller and younger versions of themselves, and they seem to like how it feels. They're panting noticeably less.
I spent the day scattering hay over mudholes and seeding the chicken pasture.

A heavily diffused rear-sync flash, slow shutter speed, wide open aperture, and a rotating fidget spinner for Macro Monday's "fingertip(s)" theme.
This is another fidget toy, this time the layers are star shaped, unfortunately I can't show a side view (as you would see that it forms a 3D pyramid / cone) because everytime I tried to suspend it to do so, it collapsed.
How ever, an interesting phenomenon does occur. The toy is, as with the others, pearlescent and changes colour depending upon how it catches the light. This photo seems to have the same properties.
Take a good look at it and after a few minutes of watching, I am sure you will agree that the colours do change. Of course, like me, it could be just your imagination. :-)

I found this toy at the Flea Market. A Windago fidget toy made by 3D printing.
I'm sure he/she is a friendly Wendigo.
I don't allow evil nasty toys to live in my forest.
Fidget and Mouse dig four-inch-deep, doggie-sized wallows this time of year.
A quick dig before lying down exposes a cool, damp layer of soil that helps keep their tummies cool on hot days.
This is a picture of a highly addictive fidget spinner. The portion in the picture is about an inch long.
This is a single image of a so-called 'fidget toy' - a metallic spinner that rotates about a central axis.
Illuminated with natural, window light against a black background. Converted to mono in Silver Efex Pro, cleaned up dust specks in Photoshop, sharpening in Lightroom.
Many thanks to everyone who views, faves and comments on this image and the others in my photostream. HMM!

Fidget sticks close to the birds, and her sister Mouse guards the flock's perimeter.
Fidget and Mouse are livestock guardian dogs who protect our flock from foxes and hawks. We lost over thirty birds in the months before they went to work and only a single one since, a duck who went over the fence and placed herself beyond their protection.
This fluffy boy belongs to my partner. When we met, he would hide under the bed every time I visited. Two years later and a lot of work and I will wake up to him sat by my head, or he'll search the house for me when I'm not there.
