Salmi, Occupied Karelia, Russia
This is what is left of the old Church of Salmi, in occupied Karelia, northeast of the Ladoga. After being occupied by the Soviet Union from Finland, the church has stayed ruined, its walls “decorated” with Russian graffitis and obviously it has served as drinking grounds for some local youngsters. It probably was the home church for my grandmother who fled from here prior to the occupation in the Second World War. Recently, a new small Russian Orthodox tsasouna has been erected lower in the village.

Alien sci/fi influence. Lots of fun with layers and using CC images.
