I tell people that my Tortoiseshell cat, Simone loves to play fetch. They exclaim, "Dude, cats are not dogs." I reply, "Umm, thanks Captain Obvious, but my cat does, will, and loves to play fetch.
If a photo is worth a thousands words, how much more is a video proving my gata's skills as a dog.

This evening Lindi myself and Duke went to Changi beach park for a walk around. I guess dogs have the desire to run after sticks in their DNA...
Played fetch with my dog and tried out the Continuous AF with the Sports Action setting. I've never shot a clear photo of my dog running to me before.
I couldn't quite get away from this image. I don't like too many repetative subjects on my Flickr pages, but I just liked the action in this one, and the tide and the reflections. A dog on a day at the beach is the
un-embarressed embodiment of joy !
Photo taken for The News Guard in Lincoln City, OR at the Dog Swim Event at the Community Center pool.
As luck would have it, these dogs came onto the beach with their owners to play fetch in the snow when I was there taking landscape photos. They took turns picking up the ball and running back with it. The wavy lines in the background is Lake Ontario. Humber Bay Park East beach, Toronto, Canada.

One of the methods of training the fetch command is using two toys in a bait and switch routine. The toys must be identical and something the dog enjoys playing with. Starting with the dog on a leash, hide one of the toys on your person and throw the other a short distance after showing it to your pet. Release the dog from the leash and say "fetch" or whatever cue word you choose. The dog will chase after the toy and, most likely, will pick it up. When the animal starts to return with the first toy, produce the hidden one.
The animal will likely drop the toy they are carrying in favour of the new toy. When this happens, wait for the dog to return to you and be reattached to the leash before throwing the new toy. After throwing the new toy, say "fetch" while releasing the animal to give chase. While your dog is chasing the new toy, run and retrieve the first toy. Repeat this process several times using the fetch command.
