Taken from Beach Road looking across Sandymount Strand towards Dun Laoghaire (5.7km to the southeast) as the tide was coming in. The time was just after 8am, about an hour after sunrise.
The shot was taken with a Canon 100-400m lens fitted to a Canon 40D and mounted on a tripod. The focal length was 330 mm.
Playing fetch this morning for the first time with Lily, I'd throw this ball and she'd go get it and bring it back. I'd throw it again and she'd go get it and bring it back. Finally she got tired of me throwing it every time she brought it back ... so this time, she brought it back but put it behind a small bush to keep me from getting it and throwing it again!

Lots of folks bring their dogs to the inlet because it's one of the few places where you're allowed to take pets in Daytona. Ponce Inlet is actually a couple of towns south of Daytona proper, and a whole world more delightful! This is one place where you still can get away from the crowds and find some peace. I thoroughly enjoyed the two days i spent wandering there to bring you these shots!
