Bird, UOB Plaza (1990)
This huge plump bird is the work of Colombian figurative artist Fernando Botero (born 1932) in 1990. It is sponsored by United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) and stands by the side of the Singapore River. Botero displays his unique style in most of his works where the figurines are proportionally exaggerated and fat.
The bird symbolises peace, serenity, joy of living and optimism, and with all these qualities, Singapore will continue to grow and prosper.

I never mind getting people into these pictures - it's the only way I can think of showing how huge and chunky the sculptures are.
Really liked this horse - and could almost hear it snorting!
FERNANDO BOTERO - Exhibition « Beyond forms » (2021/2022)
Vast retrospective dedicated to the Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero by the BAM (Museum of Fine Arts - MONS – BELGIUM).
Renowned for his round and voluptuous figures, reflecting the artist's taste for satire and caricature, Botero's work (1932-) is the result of demanding and determined research, in which the artist has been engaged for more than 70 years.
The artist is known for the diversity of the sources of his work, inspired as much by Colombian folk imagery or Mexican muralists as by the art of the Renaissance and the emblematic works of Diego Velázquez, Pablo Picasso or Francisco de Goya.
