I love these old posts... Been a while since I documented then so here is an effort from yesterday. You can find them by Garfield Park in SE at the top of the steps coming down from NJ Ave.
Thanks to Boris for id. On a threatened site,Strathspey, Scotland. European bark beetle predators, Glischrochilus quadripunctatus, are predators of the larvae of wood-boring insects, particularly bark beetles ( see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glischrochilus ) Apparently 3 species in the genus in Scotland (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glischrochilus_quadripunctatus )

Can anyone id? In sunshine on a fencepost near riparian woodland on a threatened site in Strathspey, Scotland.
I was playing around with the depth of field here. It is so narrow on this largest aperture that only the side of the post is in focus, not the front of the post, closest to the camera. This one breaks composition rules, but I keep looking at it, so I posted it.
The fuzzy, out of focus, gray thing on top of the post is a feather stuck to the wood. The fuzzy, out of focus, white thing on top of the post is the mountains.
