I love walking along a fence line in the country and you stumble upon a fence post that's been there for ages. Full of history and textures.
There used to be a fence around this cemetery, stretching between these posts. One day they disappeared.
Limestone fence posts are signature of central Kansas. Finding few trees, early settlers had turned to the next best materiel at hand.
Each post is a beautiful unique cut, and I had hoped to leave the area with at least a few photos good enough to do them justice.

Went to colwick this morning to try and catch the sunset (ahem Sunrise tnx steve)...... I failed lol so heres a frosty fencepost :D
Marpissa muscosa is one of the UK's largest Jumping Spiders. It's listed as nationally scarce, though it can be seen fairly readily in the South-East of the UK. It favours dry stone walling & often fence posts, which is where it gets it's common name. This Male seemed fairly at home on my hairy arm though actually.
