I'm always impressed when a camera/lens/film do well on a blisteringly bright day, as this was.
I just rediscovered this oldie in my computer.....from way back in 2006. Taken with my old Sony DSC-H5
A Northern Harrier allowed fairly close approach (from the car)......on a fence post in South Park while on the way to Gunnison for a 3-day weekend.
The Red-tailed Hawk is a bird of open country. Look for it along fields and perched on telephones poles, fenceposts, or trees standing alone or along edges of fields.

Today sunset locally was at 15:56, which was when this image was shot. No pretty sunset for us. But this should be the earliest sunset of the year, because today is the winter solstice, which happens to be the We're Here challenge on 21 December 2022.
The fencepost on the left looked sort of sad to me, and the other one a little concerned, but not overly so.
