as light as summer air.

Two voices,

woven into laughter

that echoes beyond the stone.

No secrets,

just joy,

etched in smiles

and held in hearts.

52 Weeks of 2021

Week 52 My year in pictures

Category: Mosaic

Our Daily Challenge: French

An “avant garde” self portrait to end the year! Happy New Year to all. May 2022 bring each of you health, happiness, and joy!!!

I have been participating in the “52 Weeks of.....” groups since 2014. This is the first year that I didn’t complete all of the themes. I am short two of the themes, and with the way life is today, those two shall remain undone. Praying for more creativity and time to execute said creativity in 2022.

Work by Sel & Foreground by DRTLondon.

The image exudes intimacy and sensuality. Bare shoulders, a gentle touch on the face, and subtle nudity create a sense of vulnerability. The grayscale palette adds a timeless, elegant touch. The subject's body language—hands cupping the face, a tilted head, and relaxed posture—suggests contemplation and introspection. This stance invites viewers to consider the subject's inner thoughts and feelings. From a feminist perspective, the image reclaims agency and self-expression. The subject's direct gaze conveys confidence, while the lack of sexualization underscores their autonomy. Traditional notions of femininity are challenged as the image portrays both vulnerability and strength. Soft, diffused light adds an ethereal quality and illuminates the subject's features without harsh shadows, creating a sense of purity and intimacy. The minimalist texture focuses the viewer's attention on the subject's contemplative expression, with soft, smooth skin enhancing the image's sensual nature.

The only thing keeping me sane while social distancing, is playing with my images and trying different things. Today I might not be so sane, LOL! This is not an original idea of mine, but I thought that I would give it a try.

Title: Woman on Fire

This powerful image depicts a woman ablaze, empowered, and bursting with passion, defiance, and unstoppable force. Her fiery hair and the warm light dancing across her skin represent a burning desire for freedom, liberation, and individuality. The fire that consumes her can be seen as a struggle for justice, a blossoming love, a firm belief, or the creative spirit's all-encompassing power.

The bold, expressionistic use of colour conveys her raw emotions and inner flame. Her strong stance underscores the fiery spirit defying the stereotype of passive, submissive women. And like a modern echo of Eugène Delacroix's iconic "Liberty Leading the People," she raises her right arm, concealing her face in an enigmatic gesture of resistance.

Her vibrant crimson hair cascades in striking contrast against the skimpy black vest—a garment traditionally associated with masculinity—further underscoring her strength and rebellious spirit. There's a sense that the light itself isn't simply illuminating her, but that she radiates with an inner fire, a woman burning from within.

Don’t Get Angry With Me

The model in this photograph radiates both a certain sensuality and vulnerability, with her legs tucked up to her body and her arms folded protectively. Her clothes emphasise this even more; the long boots and short skirt draw attention to her feminine shape and beckon a second look. A slight, playful smile and her fiery red hair against a single green eye produce a seductive tension. She looks at the observer, but her gaze stays partly hidden, suggesting complexity and depths below the surface. The complicated interaction among the model, the observer, and the photographer produces the picture itself; the composition heightens the sensuality of the scene.

The model's clothes and body language in the picture also challenge conventional ideas of submissive femininity. Her clothes audaciously reclaim her sexuality, and her posture and eyes convey a refusal to be objectified.

A colorful street portrait of a young street musician or busker. The lady follows the style of the flower child or hippie. She is serious, she sits on the street and plays her guitar. She is young, she is beautiful, she is candid. Candid street photo.
