Union Pacific FEF-3 class 4-8-4 ALCO Northern steam locomotive # 8444 is seen after arrival at the station with its railfan excursion train at Sterling, Colorado, summer 1980. There was a large crowd of passengers and visitors checking out the steam locomotive and the cars. There was a line of passengers that were going to check out the cab at this time. After awhile the locomotive along with the baggage car was uncoupled from the train to be turned and then it proceeded to the other end and coupled on for the return trip to Denver, as I recall. Now it is possible that they did turn the whole train but I don't remember them doing so.

Hartlepool Borough Council Transport operations passed to Hartlepool Transport Limited on 26th October 1986 due to bus deregulation
The history after deregulation is a bit sketchy but it was with the Croxeth Park Driving School before being in use at Scarborough with PK Historic Omnibus. It was scrapped by PK Historic Omnibus after an arson attack

Union Pacific 4-8-4 FEF-3 class ALCO Northern steam locomotive # 8444 is seen while stopped at the end of a photo run-by with its railfan excursion train in Colorado, summer 1980. This photo angle provided the locomotive with a husky appearance with a nice reflection in the puddle. The steam locomotive is still smoking heavily after its photo run-by was completed, because the cab crew had provided extra smoke for the photographers.

Union Pacific 4-8-4 Northern FEF-3 class steam locomotive # 8444 and its train has been turned at Sterling for the return railfan trip back to Denver, Colorado, summer 1980. In the mid foreground you may observe an employee throwing a switch for the locomotive to make its move with the train back to the station area. There are railfans and passengers just about everywhere and also there were train followers along the highways. The main line to the east has a green clear block signal in the distance, and also in the background to the left is a yard. There appears to be a Burlington Northern locomotive working in the yard by its color scheme.
Union Pacific FEF-3 class 4-8-4 ALCO Northern steam locomotive # 8444 with its railfan excursion train is seen from on-board departing in the early morning sunlight the City of Denver, Colorado. summer 1980. Looking ahead you can see various railfans, passengers and photographers along with the engineer with his head and shoulders sticking out of his cab window. Notice too how you can see between the boiler and the elephant ear. It appears that there is no welded ribbon rail in this commercial area of the city.
Rare diesel Corolla in quite rough condition, that rear wheel arch is pretty bad. However, I bet it's tough as old boots and it's still on owner number one.
Union Pacific 4-8-4 FEF-3 class ALCO Northern steam locomotive # 8444 is seen while in the turning process at Sterling as it prepares for its return trip with the railfan excursion train to Denver, Colorado, summer 1980. This elevated angle view presents a different perspective on the steam locomotive. In this view you can see the double exhaust stacks.

Llovía a cántaros…
