18"x24" Acrylic on 140 lb. Cold Press Paper - Permanent Collection of The University of Kansas

During my keynote presentation at the Durham Blackboard Users conference (7th January 2014) I asked the audience what would constitute 'radical particaption' during the session (which was held in a large, modern lecture theatre).

A Soldier with 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Striker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division looks through a FGM-148 Javelin scope during Decisive Action Rotation 15-08.5 at the National Training Center (NTC) in July. By identifying units, from platoon through battalion level, that are preparing for a CTC rotation, ATEC can integrate system evaluations with scheduled maneuver home station training exercises and thus gain opportunities to solicit Soldier feedback. I was attending a two day workshop on how to conduct team reviews after companies have ran its development dialogues. Then my colleague Thomas suggested to use a simple tool for feedback on the quality of the training. The tool works fine in brief meetings as well.

1. Ask all meeting participants reflect for 30 seconds on the quality of the meeting.

2. Participants must choose one or two of the fingers' topics.

3. Take the round.

There are five fingers to choose from (suprise!):

Thumb: What was good? What did you find really useful?

Index finger: What was mind provoking, making you reflect or see things from a different point of view?

Middle finger: What did you not like? (as in "sod off")

Ring finger: What kind of new network or relations to people did you gain from this meeting that you value?

Little finger: What was you hoping for in this meeting that you didn't get?

Result: The person having chaired the meeting takes out at least some impression of the value of the meeting as experienced by those attending.

If you have done deals with me or trust me say something

since I don't sit in lectures and take actual notes anymore, I'm prone to scribbling on nearby bits of paper instead of in the margins of notes. October 23

Seem to have accumulated a a few pictures of old TVs and radios from various museums. I thought this might be good a way of displaying a couple of them...

This is the same picture as the one previous, (hence the repeat of the description below), but based on the feedback here I made some alterations, including removing the rose picture on the wall that was touching Lance's head. Though they like the inclusion of the rose because of the meaning to them, I think it makes a better portrait without it. I have changed my tags to make this the submission to the challenge. Thanks all for your constructive critique!

I was able to slip in another quick shoot for the "environment" portrait theme this week. My buddy Lance owns an excellent motorcycle (and all powertoys) shop in American Fork, Utah. I thought it would be a great shot of hiim with some bikes in the background because this really is his passion. The shop is called Obsession Motoworx for a reason.

Lance is another of my patient and willing friends that answer my call to help out with my portrait challenge needs this month.

The Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor (MRMS) Hydrometeorology Testbed - Hydro (hereafter denoted as HMT-Hydro) experiment is a part of the United States Weather Research Program (USWRP) through the Hydrometeorology Testbed (HMT) that runs from 24 June to 19 July 2019. During the HMT-Hydro experiment, forecasters and hydrologists from the National Weather Service (NWS) will work with National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) research scientists to explore new technology and techniques to improve the prediction and warning of flash flooding. In particular, NWS participants will evaluate new probabilistic hydrologic modeling concepts and output within the Flooded Locations and Simulated Hydrographs (FLASH) system that could help convey the uncertainty of the flash flood threat. NWS participants will also evaluate high resolution precipitation forecasts from the NSSL Warn-on-Forecast (WoF) project and the addition of these forecasts into the FLASH system. Feedback from participants will allow NSSL research scientists to identify how these high spatio-temporal resolution precipitation forecasts could influence the warning decision making process, including the potential for increased warning lead time. Evaluations of the various probabilistic data sets will provide further understanding on the usability and effectiveness of these products, as well as guide future efforts of the Forecasting A Continuum of Environmental Threats (FACETs) project for flooding hazards. The HMT-Hydro experiment runs in conjunction with the Flash Flood and Intense Rainfall (FFaIR) experiment at the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) to collaborate on the short-term forecasting of flash flooding for both a national and regional scale.

Every August we do a series on families and this time around it is titled "Family Feud". The topics will be Communication, Blended Families, Child Centered Families and Tough Conversations.

My thought process was do go sort of retro feeling and I love the art of Lichtenstein and thought that it was a great direction. I like the image of the couple and I think that with the right text in the bubbles it could convey the right feeling for a "Family Feud". So I would love your feedback on the entire piece and also any suggestions you might have for the text.

Thanks.

I'm posting this b&w version just to see if it makes any difference. I really like this, more so in colour but considering the lack of comments, most of you don't. Why is that ? Thanks guys
