Two real images to create one fantasy image. Just playing around with images. One from a sunset in March, the other is the Blood Moon Eclipse on 15 April, 2014.

I used Tamron zooms to have more options for focal length. I probably would have done better with 24GM and 85GM
This one has a bit of heavier retouch darkened the background, lighten up the dress and replace the flat sky with some cloud. Black and white obviously is an edit too.

I have never been a big fan of long-exposure photographs of the ocean.
While I will be the first to admit that the long-exposure "softening" of the waves helps to simplify the compositions... the end result is often so far removed from what my eyes (and brain) experienced... that I end up going for the crisp version every time.
I've shot this exact composition from the rocks at Blaauwberg many times over the past few years... always different... but never with a long exposure... for the aforementioned reason.
I did however recently slap an ND filter over my lens to capture a couple of "fantasy shots"... just for the hell of it.
Yesterday evening I processed one of those shots... this one... just for the hell of it.
I'm still undecided though... I do like the pastel tones and tranquil simplified mood of this... but it still looks like something I've never seen before.

This was actually a test shot. The location, the angle, the light... I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to shoot, and I wanted to create the pose and shoot it, but I couldn't make it happen in time.

The bones of the legendary giant were really there, as they were rumored, in a place that was normally inaccessible!
Ever since then, I've been sneaking in under the watchful eyes of the guards and spending my days reading old books about giants in this pillar's special seat.
