It was face painting day at our after school program. She was pretty proud of her face and wanted to keep it painted until Monday. I saw and it and instantly turned into the practical and buzz-killing mom. But she loved it as if the face paint amplified her already high level of animation. The Chinese characters on her cheek are what the painter imagined her Chinese name would be from the phonetic pronunciation. I'm sure she took some artistic license with them though.
