This past summer, I was just about to step off of the boardwalk when I noticed this dragonfly resting in the morning sun.

Thank you for your visits and comments, they're all greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

This Cheetah, with two others, ambushed an impala in an impressive attack.

What impressed me the most at the time was the rush and the noise of the gallop of the group of impalas, realizing the imminence of the attack.

To cap things off, the Cheetahs didn't attack the Impala's jugular, which made him groan in pain, leaving all the spectators dumbfounded.

In the photo, the moment the Cheetah turns towards me with a bloody face.

Black-faced Cormorant

≠====================≠

Black-faced Cormorants are an occassional visitor to our end of the bay, preferring the more open waters of the southern end.

Every so often we'll come across one resting with the local cormorants.on an old dilapidated pier.

I'm going back to Berlin for a bit...partly because I'm reading a good novel about it and enjoying Deutschland'83 on the telly!

Strange street art but there you go...

Early last fall I captured this image of the Bald Faced Hornet on our back deck. When I read up on him, it said he is actually a member of the Yellow Jacket wasps and not a true hornet. Either way, I was not happy to have him visit. I react quite strongly to bee and wasp stings so I always carry a small container of white vinegar with me to apply to a sting quickly to neutralize the effects. It works within minutes if I apply it right after the sting. The other reason we don’t like the wasps hanging around is because they strip pieces of wood off the posts. I thought initially when I discovered this, that a neighbourhood cat was scratching at our deck. I guess the wasps find it easy material for making their paper nests. This is my Wing Wednesday post for the day.

Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida fashioned the face.

The face isn't mine :) I will try to do SP in the next few days though...watch out...hehe. Before I do, I need help from strobist masters out there....give me tips, please, please, please! :-)

Thanks for your visit, comments, and faves!
