wow.
it is 4:53 AM and i finally got the photos and ring finished!
I started at 9pm tonight, I had no idea what I was going to do and was kind of in a panic. This is how I spent my New Years eve, doing what I love to do, what a perfect beginning of 2011!
To all the folks who participated in the RAD challenge, thank you for all your continued support and generosity.
Sadly I was not able to do the full year but I SO SO SO admire you who did!

Here's a series of 12 shots took from the top of Stainborough Castle, which is a Grade II* Listed Building. It was quite overcast that day. I estimate viewing range was 3-5 miles.
Stainborough Castle is a sham ruin (fake castle) constructed as a garden folly on the Wentworth Castle estate.
In 1727, Thomas Wentworth began building the folly. He wanted to give the impression this estate had been in his family for centuries. In fact he purchase the the estate in 1708. Thomas called the folly Stainborough Castle and renamed the main house Wentworth Castle. To show off his estate, Thomas invited his cousin and rival at Wentworth Woodhouse for an extravagant feast in the castle grounds.
From January to June 2021 work was carried out to improve the condition of Stainborough Castle. Funded by Barnsley Council, the project preserved Thomas Wentworth's creation so that visitors can carry on enjoying it for years to come.

Heavy rainfall has plagued this area of North Carolina, but has made for several reflection-type possibilities.
Fabricated by John Butler & Co. and built in 1892 to cross the Manchester Ship Canal between Manchester Docks and Pomona Docks. It is the largest and heaviest of the canal’s swing bridges weighing 1800 tonnes and was only operated to allow ships into and out of Pomona Docks. In 1998 the bridge was refurbished and fixed in position, another fixed bridge was built alongside giving greater capacity to cope with the volume of traffic in this very busy area of Trafford.

Mulitple exposure (five frames) in Bright mode under the glare of the strobe. Modest adjustments in Lightroom then JPG'd & off to Photoshop for a barrage of amends, principally a Color [sic] Burn layer & tone & colour curve adjustments post flattening. HSS!

Fabrication of propeller need to be done by skillful personnel . Specific technique is required to complete the fabrication.
An old beat up M14 that was taken by a Caesar scout and restored with parts from other weapons. However, it now uses a smaller caliber than its usual 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition because of it is expensive to produce that particular ammunition.
As I mentioned in the previous post, I lost one of the border pieces within hours of opening the puzzle. This happened while I was playing around with the loose bits in my lap before I remembered I had the card table. It may still turn up, but in order to finish the puzzle, I made a substitute piece from a piece of card and several layers of white label. It could have probably been a bit thicker and shinier. I used colored pencils to add some random shapes that blended in with the existing pieces. Not too shabby. I saved that piece and a few surrounding ones in a tiny plastic bag before I put them away. If I don't find the other piece, at least there will be enough pieces to complete the border.
The Morocco Temple (also known as the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine) is a historic Shriners International building in Jacksonville, Florida. It is located at 219 Newnan Street, and was designed by New York City architect Henry John Klutho. On November 29, 1979, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building is the oldest Shrine temple in Florida.
The grand building was erected in 1910 in the prairie style of architecture using ancient Egyptian-themed symbols. The entrance was a large battered architrave featuring a massive transom atop short columns in the Egyptian revival style. The three levels included a main floor, a 1,500 seat auditorium and a balcony.
The structure was constructed using steel reinforced concrete and stuccoed brick exterior walls with terracotta ornamentation. A fabricated metal cornice incorporating a geometric design projected above the third floor windows on the front and sides of the buildings, which was noted as a Sullivanesque ornament to emphasize a horizontal aspect.
Inside, many windows and light fixtures used color-tinted glass, and mosaic-tiled floors looked like oriental carpets. The walls were covered with a polychromatic faience tile portraying ancient Egyptian symbols. Oil-painted murals illustrated the Freemasons’ and Shriners’ history, with scenes of Jesus, King Solomon and Mecca.
The auditorium was 90 feet (27 m) wide with the roof supported by steel trusses. Access to the balcony was via two curved floating reinforced concrete stairways. The auditorium's ceiling was painted dark blue and imbedded with hundreds of pieces of glass that would reflect light, giving the appearance of stars. The curtain on stage was decorated with views of Arabia.
In the 1910s, when Jacksonville was the "Winter Film Capital of the World", Oliver Hardy was a member of the local temple. President William Howard Taft delivered a speech there in 1912, as did Theodore Roosevelt. Shirley Temple was one of numerous celebrities who appeared at the Morocco Temple.
The facility was also used for many major events and conventions. The Morocco Temple was the only auditorium in town until the Jacksonville Civic Auditorium was constructed in 1960.
Klutho's design was damaged in the late 1950s when the large metal cornice was removed from the front and sides. The tall ground floor windows on both sides were obscured. At the same time, an addition was constructed on the south side that extended beyond the front entrance, creating an unbalanced design.
The Shriners decided to move to the suburbs in the early 1980s. They wanted more space and room to park, plus "too many of their members were getting mugged leaving at night" according to Hugh Powell, the building's current owner.
In the early 1980s the Shriners built a new facility on the south side. Their old building was purchased in 1984 by the Cecil W. Powell & Company, an insurance broker. A huge renovation was required to create offices. However, because the building was on the National Register of Historic Places, the changes were required to retain the basic integrity of the structure. The stage was transformed into an atrium, and the murals were refurbished and encased with glass.
The auditorium was destroyed when an additional floor was constructed, but the vertical windows on the building's sides were uncovered. The tile and staircases remain unmodified, and there are now four carpeted and partitioned floors with a total of 45,000 sq ft (4,200 m2).
The Powell company moved in during 1986, and Jacksonville's Public Works Department rented the top three floors during the 1990s. Today, the Powell company is on the ground level, one floor is unoccupied, and lawyers, a title company and court reporter rent office space in the other two. The Jacksonville Historical Society is working on a plan to restore the original exterior cornices.

I've been wanting to shoot this for ages but I forgot about it and I didn't really know how to make it work. I love this concept though so I will probably revisit it again in the near future.

I don't fabricate images by taking a sky from one image and put it into another. Except in this case. I had envisioned shooting the sunflower fields with the Milky Way overhead, but it didn't happen. So, I used photoshop and created my image as I envisioned it.
On 16 July 1977, a cluster of class 56 cab frames is seen outside BREL Ashford Works where they were fabricated. They would be despatched to Doncaster where the locos were buing built. Roofs and fuel tanks were also fabricated at AShford.
Serge Mouille, a legend amongst those who collect MID-CENTURY MODERN lighting, helped out his friends to fabricate this one-off Spaceship Car.
