Two giant 3-metre high teddy bears, which have been created by William Hill, visit Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament and Saint Mary's Hospital during a tour of London today, to celebrate the imminent arrival of the second royal baby. The two bears, one boy and one girl, which are made from fur and cotton, each sport a crown and tiara respectively and display the odds of the sex of the baby on individual rosettes. The abstract sculpture, Aurora, fabricated by artist Diego Medina, was inspired by the Spanish poet Frederico Garcia Lorca. Medina interlocked geometric shapes, pillars an arch and a star, so that when the sculpture is viewed from various angles, it takes on different shapes and forms. Though NYCDOT, BRAC, and Medina worried that individuals might mark the sculpture with graffiti, it remained unscathed throughout the installation period. The sculpture created a focal point in what was once a barren plaza.

Seen at Scotland's Public Digital Fabrication Studio at The Lighthouse in Glasgow. There was also an exhibition in the Lighthouse of work by Glasgow Art College students. It was clear that there were good links between the Art College and the MAKLAB. Excellent! Yet another reason to go to Glasgow Art College :-)
Three dimensional printing is a simple extension of computer printing from the two dimensional world of ink on paper to the three dimensional world of shaped things. That "simple" by the way is the technical mathematical sense of of "simple", not to be confused with the everyday meaning of "simple".

[I was doing handheld snaps by the available dim light. I see some silly software has simplified the EXIF data, so all I can say is that this was a very noisy high ISO shot which took a fair bit of processing to clean up. Good noise cleaners are very much better than average ones. I used Neat Image.]

The main objective of the research project In situ Fabricator (IF) is to bring robotic fabrication out of the laboratory environment directly onto the construction sites. The high-accuracy fabrication of large-scale building structures through controlled manipulation using context-aware mobile robots beyond structured factory settings could significantly expand the application space of digital fabrication in architecture.
The development of the Mesh Mould fabrication process using IF has the overall goal of its realization and construction of a load bearing continuous wall element on the NEST DFAB unit in 2017. Therefore, the prototypical system was tested on the first floor slab of NEST – a situation close to the real construction site environment – in order to assess the robustness of the system and requirements in the logistics of performing an in situ fabrication process. As most 47 -59 Chevy/GMC owners know the body panels and doors and stuff don't line up right and have big gaps. On the passenger side even after I replaced the lower hinge pocket and rebuilt the hinge I still had a big gap up at the top of the door just below the rain gutter rail, so I added some metal to the door to fix it.
MEGATRO fabricates every structure from the ground up. Our angular steel towers are constructed of solid steel legs and angle iron cross members & pipes. Structures can reach heights up to 200 meter. MEGATRO is one of the few manufactures who assemble a face of every tower section. After fabrication all towers are delivered to the galvanizing facility to be Hot Dip Galvanized. Towers are processed through the facility by Caustic Cleaning, Pickling, and then Fluxing. These strict procedures insure years of maintenance free towers.
