Cornerstone of Moore Chapel (1906).

***************

Moore Chapel was erected in 1906 on the grounds of the United Methodist Children's Home, built in the Gothic Revival style from locally-quarried granite. The pews were sized small for its young parishioners. It remains in use for special occasions.

***************

Methodist minister Jesse Boring founded the United Methodist's Children’s Home in 1873 to care for children orphaned during the Civil War. The organization's mission quickly expanded to include all parentless children. In 2017, the home closed and the city of Decatur bought the 77-acre property, except for the chapel. Three years later, Decatur purchased the chapel. As part of the agreement, it must maintain both the chapel and the grave of Reverend Boring, which is located in front of the main building of the grounds. To date, many of the structures and houses remain; the 77-acre property has been renamed Legacy Park.

After a series of images from a Carl Zeiss Ultron 50mm f1.8, here's another Ultron-design lens, a SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8.

Last one! now I'm gonna make some pretzels :)

A little fog, a little rain, a little sun. Whatever the forecast was today - everyone got it right.

So i'm standing in the middle of a field taking this picture and a pickup truck pulls over - a burly guy leans out of his window and asks me WTF i'm doing on his property. Then he sees the camera - i tell him I'm Rick Braley and that i usually like taking pictures of barns and people's houses and that i would be visiting his house later that afternoon - then i told him to bugger off and gave him Rick's address if he had any complaints.

Struggling to find models in the UK so here is one from Poland :) Malgorzata

Developing - 1:4 Fresh Xtol + 2.5ml Rodinal, 21min at 20 degrees, 2Iv, Epson v800 scan

I decided to dedicate one of my cameras to monochrome duty only to see if this is a medium I can invest more resources into down the road. These two images are part of my initial testing,

Camera: FujiFilm XPRO3, chosen for the job, paired with speed boosters.

Lens: Carl Zeiss Pancolar 50mm f1.8 @ f1.8

Edited in PS: Increased highlights , added clarity, and dropped in some vignette.

I will continue to fine tuning it but I find it very pleasing to me, since I was looking for a filmic vintage'ish vibe from the Xpro3.

New work from Poland and new models! Malgorzata

If you've not seen Instagram I shot 8 rolls of 35mm film so lots to come! :)

I got to go to one of my favorite places this week, the J. Paul Getty Museum. They had an excellent photographical exhibit by photographer Minor White.

As I was looking at some of his quotes about photography, here is one that struck me as interesting as I move forward with my 100 Stranger Project:

"Creativity with portraits involves the invocation of a state of rapport when only a camera stands between two people...mutual vulnerability and mutual trust." - Minor White, Mirrors, messages, manifestations by Minor White

just trying out the new 50mm, never shot at f1.8 before. touch of levels and curve, obviously the subject matter is next to impossible for auto exposure, 15% smart sharpen too, not bad me thinks, nice wiggly bokeh in the background
