I'm not sure how I spotted these tiny plants growing out of a cork. The cork is about the diameter of a penny. Just goes to show that life is irrepressible!

This is likely some sort of fungi. I have two small wasp trappers that are corked at the top. One of them had sugar water in it (which did NOT trap any wasps) and the other did not. One cork grew this and the other did not. It's hard to describe just how miniscule these little plants are...

Happy Macro Monday!

Correction - these are lacewing eggs and I think they're dead :) Thank you to Mary Wolfe for the identification!

As souvenirs, I usually take seeds and cuttings. HMM!

Another shot with the extensiontubes and canon 50mm 1.8ii. I'm really amazed how this little piece of gear can make such a hugh difference! Amazing! Will upload more shots taking with the extensionstubes. This photography was inspired by the an series of photography done by the artist Suren Manvelyan.

Copper

This is speaker wire. While bluetooth is now becoming the transmitter of choice and is exceedingly handy, I will always choose some big bad speakers connected to a big bad receiver to deliver my music and this wire is essential to that end :)

Copper is a mineral and an element essential to our everyday lives. It is a major industrial metal because of its high ductility, malleability, thermal and electrical conductivity and resistance to corrosion. It is an essential nutrient in our daily diet. And, its antimicrobial property is becoming increasingly important to the prevention of infection. It ranks third after iron and aluminum in terms of quantities consumed in the USA....

A neighbor was kind enough to give us a bouquet of tulips over the weekend - a little color to brighten up the lengthy period of dreary wet days we've been experiencing. However, even the flowers have taken exception to the weather as they have for the most part, remained closed. Someone else gave us a set of extension tubes that were no longer wanted and which I've never used before. Given that both the tulips and tubes were freebies, I had to try it out. It's more challenging than I thought and after tossing out a few dozen attempts, this one seemed the best of the bunch.

new in 2014 is a short video/slideshow clip with some favorites between macro and close-up produced for youtube: youtu.be/9tW98BPV3eo

It is amazing what I can find to do rather than do the housework! I have been going through some old flower shots and came across this. I think it was shot with extension tubes on a macro lens - just a very small detail of a flower. A bit of a Marmite shot - love it or hate it!!!

not yet ready to bloom :)
