Battersea Power Station, 21/9/21

Battersea Power Station bound service (Northern Line)

3mm big.

A species I've photographed before. No other bugs around, so why not do a retake? A bit smaller than the last, but attempted this one with an almost 8:1 magnification. Not as sharp as I would like (horrible camera shake), but good enough, don't you think?

If Van Gogh painted an arachnid, it might've looked like this. His facial patterns are wonderful. Tentatively ID-ed as a member of Hamataliwa.

Opened on 1st February 1967, Peak Forest Railway Station is now used as DB Schenker's operations base for workings in and out of the nearby quarries in the Buxton area. The station was renamed "Peak Forest for Peak Dale" in 1897, as the local settlement is indeed called Peak Dale. The station was located on the Midland Raiway's Manchester extension, and was closed on 6th March 1967.

Peckett 0-4-0 saddle tank (W/No.2158 built in 1955) is on temporary loan to the N.C.B. from the adjacent Albright & Wilson chemicals plant at Kells (the chimney on the left of the Ladysmith Washery belongs to the factory). On a bitterly cold 14th March 1969 it is photographed trundling down the grade on the 'Croft Extension' with empty internal wagons for Haig Colliery. Croft Colliery was originally located to the left, giving the name to this line perched high on the cliff top overlooking St. Bees Head and the Irish Sea.

It had been intended to complete the extension of Berlin's tram route M10 to Moabit by 2020, but due to problems in the planning system it was delayed. On 11 August 2021, the official 'breaking the first sod' was celebrated by the BVG and Berlin Senator for Transport and the all-clear has now been given for construction to begin.

I'm using these photos as the basis of cataloging the whole construction period up to the opening, which is now scheduled for the first half of 2023.

This was a little something I put together for a friend. It's not quite a sewing diagram for a maiko hikizuri, but it provides very detailed measurements which you can use to create your own maiko hikizuri. These are the measurements I used to create my Harunohana hikizuri (kurokami-kanzashi.deviantart.com/art/Harunohana-363332009 ) - it includes measurements for where to place the body extension in order to make a regular kimono into a hikizuri. All the measurements in this diagram are based off of those of the authentic maiko hikizuri in my collection. The drawing is not exactly to scale, but it is fairly close.

This 25’ extension cord on an encased reel with built-in cicuit breaker has been about the most useful and reliable Christmas gifts I’ve ever received. I believe I received it in December, 1983 and it has been handily accessible in every place I’ve lived during that period. It was a Christmas gift from my late friend Tom who passed during February of this year, 2024. So now I will remember my best friend with something that symbolizes that long standing reliability. So thank you, Tom.

The case states that it was made in Canada.

Here, again, we see the effective ways in which older, traditional properties can be married beautifully with one of our tailor made structures.

Orangeries are a popular way to extend older or listed homes as they add to the existing property with compromising original features. Less glass is also incorporated meaning that the structure is softened by brickwork.

This industrialised kitchen extension blends brilliantly with the period feel of it's listed host building; complimenting the brick work whilst remaining unafraid to claim an identity of it's own through the use of masculine grey powder coasted aluminium and a stainless steel kitchen design. The lean-to design of this structure works well; encapsulating the views of nature both across the garden space as well as from above as the canopy of trees shades the roof from extra heat.
