The Grey areas highlight the substantial block work carried out,the white section is what remained of the existing flat roof extension which houses the downstairs toilet & shower and double bedroom. The entire roof was replaced during this project and this included installation of reclaimed Banger Slates to insure the integrity of the Cottage was maintained. To insure maximum light, i decided on a large Velux window on the lower floor and a smaller window on the loft section. The Boarded exit downstairs will be filled with a large double glazed door temporarily as eventually i plan a large sun room coming off this new extension.

The stock monorail car is 4x20 studs. The 4D Brix extension car is 4x16 studs. It is a great idea to allow for longer trains. Previously you had to use standard ball and socket trailer parts to join two stock train bases.

The extension helps with tripod collision. It also helps with being able to get underneath the ground glass to focus.
Mounting the camera is a challenge. I must lift it to shoulder height to put it into the saddle. Nicely, the aluminum riser boxes are perfect handles and I can use my shoulder to steady it in the dovetail while tightening the knobs. Same goes for DEC balance. I lean the camera against my shoulder to allow it to slide.
I do not expect to use the extension in the field, although I may bring it to GSSP or Calstar.
