I think most of us could use some colour right about now, as it's winter in a large part of the world.
Taken with 100mm macro lens and Kenko extension tubes to get closer.
In every person's heart there is a secret nerve that answers to the vibrations of beauty.

I found this troubled looking extension cord at my barn. Feeling totally disconnected no doubt. :-) HMM!
MacroMondays - Foil
Taken for the Macro Mondays theme Foil. The jagged saw-tooth edges are where the foil was torn off from the dispenser.
The title was influenced by the terrible fires that are raging across Greece and Turkey at the moment here in Europe. Who says climate change isn't a thing!
Taken using an extension tube on a Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm lens.
No matter where I have lived, I have always gravitated to the birds of prey ... the raptors. To me, there's something fascinating about their beaks, their wings, the look of concentration and determination, but mainly their talons. When a raptor flies over me, especially when they bank and show off their underside, or topside, of their body, it's so cool. Red-tailed hawks are the most variable of all of the buteos, depending on where they are found and also their color morphs. Of course, don't forget how their feather patterns change as they molt. It really makes a challenge for species specific ID.
I could raptor all day long and be happy ... we get all sorts of raptors visiting us throughout the winter and some visit during the summer.
This red-tailed hawk flew over me at a relatively close range (though this image is most likely cropped some for balance). The extended wingspan was amazing to view, with every feather serving a purpose. Love these raptors.
Happy Monday!

Still experimenting with extension tubes, here I was looking for something different to photograph with some very tired looking tulips. A lot of the color seemed to have faded, which made me think more of a monochrome edit - including some generous use of sliders to fit into the Sliders Sunday Theme. HSS to those who participate as well!
Canon EF 4/70-200L (Non-IS)) with 3 stacked Kenko extension tubes. The good old EF Zoom turned out to be a cool Macro. The distance to the object was about 50cm.

On Dec. 4, 2016, I had the privilege of participating in a workshop called "Cameras and Dancers" where photographers were paired with dancers for the opportunity to shoot them in a myriad of poses. The location for the shoot was Union Station – a marvelous, historic building and the hub of Los Angeles's metro system.

Candid eye contact street photography from Barnsley, England. Carrying a box of human hair extensions, it looks to me like she is the 'wig shop' store owner from up the alleyway. Enjoy!

Here we see a Route 215 pass it's usual terminus (a Route 379 is just entering the stand), and head the few hundred meters outside London into Essex for the seasonal extension to Lea Valley Campsite. The back of the Essex boundary sign can just be seen on the far left.
It's a rotten journey on foot as the pavements end, and it is a set of bends with ditches and little room for walking on a very busy road.

I posted a colour photo a month or so back of another one of these little yellow flowers that I took with a Tair 135mm lens. Surprisingly there are still one or two of them still in flower so this was taken a week or two back with a Pentacon AV projector lens and using an extension tube. I always find that the look of these bokeh shots changes completely when colour is removed from them - neither better nor worse, just different.

In 2000, the runway was again extended, this time to 2,781 m (9,124 ft). As landfill was not a realistic option, the extension was built on a platform, partly over the ocean, supported by 180 columns, each about 70 m (230 ft) tall. The runway extension was conducted by the Brazilian construction company Andrade Gutierrez and is recognized worldwide as one of the most difficult to achieve due to the type of terrain and orography.
Its innovative solution allowed Funchal to receive the Outstanding Structure Award in 2004 by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, which aims at recognizing the most remarkable, innovative, creative, or otherwise stimulating structure completed within the last few years.
