The trackbed of the later extension of the Gorseddau tramway to Prince of Wales slate quarry. The quarry can be seen in the right distance. There was also a further extension beyond there to a copper mine at the head of the valley. Both enterprises were commercial failures and the tramway carried very little traffic. Closed before 1880.
Another test with extension tubes that I acquired this weekend. I know it is not replacement for macro lens but it seems fun with my 50mm lens.
It is not possible to use AF and MF is difficult. It seems best way is if you do not use tripod to move back and forward until image is in focus.
Also focusing distance is very short with 50mm lens and 48 mm tube.
The original Aldgate East station opened on 6 October 1884 as part of an eastern extension to the District Railway (now the District line). It was 500 feet (150 m) to the west of the current station, close to the Metropolitan Railway's Aldgate station. The curved link to the Metropolitan Railway had to be particularly sharp owing to the location of Aldgate East station.
As part of the London Passenger Transport Board's 1935–1940 New Works Programme, the triangular junction at Aldgate was enlarged to allow for a much gentler curve and to ensure trains that were held on any leg of the triangle did not foul any signals or points elsewhere.[9] The new Aldgate East platforms were sited almost immediately to the east of their predecessors with one exit facing west toward the original location and another at the eastern end of the new platforms.
The new station opened on 31 October 1938 and the earlier station closed permanently the previous night. It was designed to be completely subterranean providing a much-needed pedestrian underpass for the road above.
The eastern exit of the new station was now close enough to St Mary's (Whitechapel Road), the next station along the line, that this could also be closed. This reduced operational overheads and journey times because the new Aldgate East had effectively replaced two other stations.
We are excited to discuss the many places you can set up your portable movie screen. It is always enjoyable to watch a backyard cinema movie with your Open Air Cinema Screen, but a little adventure can add a lot to your outdoor movie experience!
Open Air Cinema has many customers around the world who use their inflatable screen and outdoor projector on the beach. We’ve found that those who do so often prefer our Pro or Elite screens, as they are extra durable and can handle the sand and dirt. But if you’re looking for a special place to hold your family or company party, and want to use your Open Air Cinema Home Screen, it will hold up great. If you live near a beach, setting up your outdoor movie screen near your favorite surfing spot will be a total blast!
Producing an outdoor movie on the beach can be highly rewarding, as it is a great environment to relax and enjoy the pleasures of outdoor movies under the stars. The cool evening breeze and soft sand will make for a comfortable experience for you and your guests. And the slope of most beaches provides a natural stadium style seating that will enable everyone to have a great view! Here are a few reminders for what to bring or remember for your Beach Side Outdoor Movie!
•Make sure to identify your power source ahead of time. You may need to bring a generator to power your fan, outdoor projector, and outdoor speakers.
•Bring extra extension cords if you’re plugging in from your beach house or public power supply.
•Blankets and wicker mats will keep the sand off your guests, and will provide comfortable seating. Beach chairs work well too, especially if your audience is older.
•Choose a movie that reflects the environment (it will make the evening extra-special): Jaws, The beach, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, etc.
•Depending on the season and your location, provide treats that will add to the ambiance: sno-cones, Popsicles or ice-cream, barbecue and lemonade!
•Consider building a fire after the screening of the film. Make sure to provide enough distance between the fire and the screen! Don’t forget the firewood.
If anyone has produced a outdoor cinema beach event, post your story to the comments section below! We’d love to hear how it went.
Also, if you are interested in acquiring an outdoor movie system, contact us today at 800-724-4066, and we’ll help you find a system that will meet your needs and budget

LOS ANGELES, CA - NOVEMBER 7: Metro Purple Line Extension groundbreaking ceremonies on November 7, 2014 at LACMA in Los Angeles, California.
Presumably this was a stop-gap measure between the Jubilee Line extension opening and the new signs arriving.
Here in Canada we plug our cars in at night to keep the engine block warm enough to fire up in the morning. You see a lot of extension cords lying around. The bright yellow junped out at me.
Here is the desk extension in place, and the basic studio layout. I'm still figuring out where everything needs to go. I'll label everything individually with notes, for those who are curious.

View looking east from the end of the southern arm of The Cobb proper along its relatively recent extension of large loose blocks of larvikite (Lyme Regis, Dorset, England).
The highest point of the cliffs in the distance, across Lyme Bay, is Golden Cap (191 m asl), one of many of Dorset's coastal landmarks, so called for the golden colour of the strata near its summit, though not visible in this view.
The rock used for this extension was imported from its type area, Larvik in Norway. This seems a little strange, as there must be rocks of similar durability nearer to Lyme Regis, like Dartmoor granite only 70 Km from here. But I guess the answer is that Larvik is on the coast, and larvikite could be brought direct to the The Cobb by sea. Also it seems a bit strange to see this rock being used in this way, since it is well known and much used for its ornamental quality, even in jewellery. It has been popular in the British buildings, used in polished slabs for fronts of shops and banks, for counters, and in reception areas of large offices and public buildings. When polished, it seems almost black but with large shimmering blueish crystals. On these rough surfaces here, the same crystals glint in the sunlight, though this is seen better closer up. It is Norway's national rock. Here is more background about this fine rock.
Technically, the rock is a monzonite, a rock related to granite but dominated by various felspars, and with little or no quartz. The rock is sometimes called 'blue granite' for commercial purposes. The Norwegian outcrop of this rock is Permian in age.
(Flickr's satellite image and map seem to be badly out of alignment with each other in this area, and both are very poor quality too. But note that on the satellite view, this position is out at sea!)
NOTE ON THE COBB
The origin of the Cobb is 13th Century and attributed to King Edward I (or more accurately, I guess, to his engineers, masons and labourers). However there is also evidence for earlier structures here going back another 500 years. A heavy storm ruined The Cobb in 1824 and most of the existing structure dates from its rebuilding in 1825-26. Apart from the recent extension of loose blocks imported from Norway (seen here), it is mostly built of local Lias limestones (Lower Jurassic) and Portland Roach (Upper Jurassic), an extremely durable shelly limestone quarried from further east along the Dorset coast.
The Cobb serves as a breakwater to protect the shore and to create two small harbours in its northeastward lee (off to R). The extension shown here is part of the main outer breakwater. The historic Cobb proper features in novels by famous authors who have lived in Lyme, notably Jane Austen's Persuasion and John Fowles's French Lieutenant's Woman. The Cobb was probably Lyme Regis's best known landmark even before its famous moments in the film of John Fowles's novel. The Cobb is used as the accurate location for some of the action.
The historic part of The Cobb is a Grade I Listed Structure, and Lyme Regis is part of the Jurassic Coast Dorset and East Devon, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I like this concept, but would like to redo the shot with a shorter extension tube; the DOF is too narrow for my liking. :(
Extension tube photography with the Zeiss Jena 135 on a Sony a7ii on January 28, 2017 at the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Norfolk, Virginia, USA. Unfortunately, I discovered this type of photography magnifies every dust particle, which would normally be invisible.
