*the commissioned suite presently under construction is inspired by Antonin Artaud's: "voyage to the land of the Tarahumara" One of his finest accomplishments and one of my favorite poems of all times:
"La crueldad"
"La crueldad es sobre todo necesidad y rigor.
La decision implacable,
irreversible de transformar al hombre
en un ser lucido
De esta lucidez nace el nuevo arte
Todo nacimiento implica tambien una muerte
Para dar origen a mi crueldad
sera necesario cometer un asesinato"
from the book, a best seller translated into many languages after his journey to Mexico in 1936 where he met Mexican painter Federico Cantu who at that time was giving lectures on the decadence of the western civilization, convinced; he alienated himself of his french culture and went to live with the Tarahumaran people who's culture he embraced and studied. The Tarahumarans who for centuries experimented with peyote, introduced him to this potent plant, which he became addicted to, recording his experiences,in his first volume of the "Voyage to the Land of the Tarahumara". The content of this work closely resembles the poems of his later days, concerned primarily with the supernatural. Artaud also recorded his horrific withdrawal from heroin upon entering the land of the Tarahumaras. Having deserted his last supply of the drug at a mountainside, he literally had to be hoisted onto his horse, and soon resembled, in his words, "a giant, inflamed gum". Artaud would return to opiates later in life.
In 1937, Artaud returned to France where he obtained a walking stick of knotted wood that once belonged to Jesus Christ. After his return, he dedicated himself writing his best known work: "the theater and its double" which contains the manifesto: "Theater of Cruelty" from which I drew my inspiration for this set.

*Ravens-brueck, a picturesque and quaint little town about 100 raven's leagues east of Berlin where between the years of 1939 to 1945, ninety thousand woman and children perished at the hands of the Nazis. The concentration camp has long been erased and replaced by lovely beer gardens; bed and breakfasts that serve Brautwurst sausages with eggs for breakfast and where at night you are treated to lively local Polka "umpah"
bands.
p.s. looked up the place in German edition Wikipedia and it mentions that once upon a time there was a concentration camp for woman and children where many perished during the war years due to illness and malnutrition. My original encyclopedia, published in east Germany in 1967 lists ninety thousand murdered there, listing as the source the official Nazi camp records.
p.s.II, this rendering is also incorporated in the rendering titled: "The Raven, Death and Blood" by Acheron Bay.

The above set is inspired by the greatest metal and wire abstract-expressionist sculptor Julio Gonzalez who taught metal sculpting to Picasso and who's work I have seen at the Los Angeles Museum of art in the 60's. His "woman combing he hair" still stands out in my memory as if I had seen it only yesterday, it,s simple pose served me hundreds of times drawing nudes in this pose over the years. In this set, I am trying to depict modern man as he through his deceit /the bullfighters cape/ lures his prey into his proximity so as to control him, subjugate, torment, harass him into total domination rejoicing in his arrogance and so sure of himself that soon he forgets that he too is at great risk of being gored sooner or later.
p.s. on a note of interest; the pencil thin arms and legs, have been borrowed by a another long forgotten sculptor named Alberto Giacometti, who inspired my earlier miniature plaster carving set titled "Matador" not yet posted on flickr. but will do so if enough interest is shown in this set.
Thank you.

*Major Horst Mahler of the "Rote Armee" /red army/ Germany's most dangerous man as he vomits and spreads his poison with a vengeonce not seen since the days of Hitler.
Presently the "Red Army" lives "underground lives" living in the "Zweite Steinzeit" /second stone age/ arming themselves and plotting for the day of "reckoning" when they will take over. Presently they number in the ten's of thousands but have sympathizers world wide that number in the millions.
please see my other renderings on this sad theme that may lead to tragic concequences for millions of people in the future if not stopped.
*in the late forties it was customary for the movie theaters in Central America to flash on the screens prior to showing the featured movie, huge stills of the weekly "political fugitives from justice" as they were called. As soon as they appeared on the screen, they were received with applause from the audience and as soon as they were replaced by cartoons the projectionist was insulted and booed, so much so that he would flash the fugitives once again to an uproar of applause. The custom of displaying of fugitives of the law was soon discontinued by the repressive government for it undermined their effort. In spite of the huge amounts of money the government offered as reward for those helping in apprehending the fugitives, to my knowledge no one ever helped the authorities in apprehending them, on the contrary they were looked up to as heroes by the poor.

* / "the crazy life of artists" set consists of many paintings and drawings that were commenced on may 9, after moving my studio outdoors. This set is inspired by the "en plein air" artists of Los Angeles who work day and night /mostly at night/ in the barrios of Los Angeles. Their method of painting consists in the use of bright colored enamel spray paints. To imitate their quick spray paint strokes, I am using 1",2',3" house paint brushes taped to broom sticks which allow me fast strokes resembling those achieved with spray cans. The subject matter is drawn from my experiences as an "artist'. Not that of a business man and family man. They are done to taped music favored by our artist friends of the 60's through 80's.

*artist's collection, after a trip taken to Ustupo, the capital of the"The Kuna-Yala" The Yale, have a saying, that if you believe in the God Eragon, he will forgive your devotion to Christ and you will be blessed doubly and Christ will forgive you for he is all merciful and forgiving, and so they live in perfect harmony and peace among the various tribes. It was not always so. Until the Spanish missionaries came they only had one God, when it became clear that the Spaniards insisted on conversion to Christianity or else they complied, got baptized and became "civilized" but in secret never gave up their believe in God Eragon. Up to the Spanish conquest they were known to paint their naked bodies with beautiful designs. After the missionaries made them wear cloth they adopted these designs to fabric by a way of cut out stitching. Each family has their own special designs and they make "molas" in the same way for the tourist trade, so it is not unusual to see for instance American flags incorporated into them, I have even seen a cut out face of president Nixon for sale.
I have lived in Panama for many years but never visited the Kuna Yale before. The Panamenians to this day refer to the Kuna as their "province" and part of the "San Blas" islands and the Republic of Panama, but not if you ask a native.
According to their history, The Kuna - Yale, an area of about 3000 Km with a population of some 20.000 people on the Caribbean coast of Panama and bordering Colombia received independence from Panama after a successful assault on the local police station, prompting a revolution toppling the provincial government body. There were several other uprisings which prompted their independence from Panama with American support on February 25 1925. Nele Kantule becoming first president and their national hero. The first thing to my astonishment upon arriving at Ustupo was to see a flag hoisted with a swastica which I was told was also their national emblem since 1930. I was told that the swastica is their symbol of eternal sun.

*"The bartered bride set" consists of 220 still photographs of eighteen 12" action figures who's faces were altered by way of polyurethane or wax carvings hand painted in my studio. Eye expressions were changed to suit the scene i was shooting. All furnishings, sets and many of the woman's costumes were also made by me. Mens wear and uniforms were furnished by a Japanese miniature costume maker. The "bartered bride" is loosely set to the opera of same title and is set in Krakow, Poland during the Nazi occupation. The models for my carvings came from authentic character photographs of real people. "The bartered bride has taken me an entire year to complete and has never been shown anywhere. For several years we have tried to get the sets shown at important galleries throughout the U.S.A., but none showed interest in showing it, even though i got several letters of praise for the high quality of the sets.
p.s. for those of you viewing this set, I would appreciate knowing if you are interested in viewing this in it's entirety, for these are transparencies that need to be cleaned and scanned; a real pain to do if no one is interested. Thank you!

*"Adelita" the title marching song of female soldiers going to battle; it was first sang by soldiers during the Mexican revolution but became popular with all revolutionary groups in Latin America in the sixties and now once again, sang in unison by those working in the fields.

Edvard Munch (1863–1944) was one of the most famous Expressionist Norwegian painters. His style, known as symbolism, which mainly focused on life, love, anxiety, and loneliness played a significant role in the late 20th-century art, especially in German expressionism. The dark color and somber tones, the exaggerated forms, and the contrasting lines in his designs portrayed his psychological state. His most iconic artwork, The Scream (1893), which depicts the agonized face and radical expressions, symbolizes anxiety, one of human's most common psychological conditions. We have digitally enhanced some of his notable works from the public domain and made them available for you to download under the creative commons 0 license.
