It was 2010 and I had just finished loading a boat to ship and was on my way home. It was a nice surprise to get this shot, one I had been after for a long time and great to have the car transporting ship in the background.

Northern Counties built the last bodies on Atlantean chassis, the final ones being AN68/2L's for Kuwait, of which one is seen here at the commercial motor show in 1986.

Following the end of the first Gulf War, retreating Iraqi troops destroyed pretty much anything they could and most of these buses suffered the same fate. It is believed that a couple still survive out there. Anyone fancy a trip over there to repatriate one?

The Import/Export Compound in Munich, Germany.

It was founded in 2010 as a space for unlimited exchange and communication beyond social and cultural borders. It describes itself as a “cultural and multifunctional canteen” and is one of the beating creative hearts in Munich. You can visit concerts and exhibitions there and of course find some very interesting graffitis.

The Electric Scots had only been running for a couple of years when 87020 was seen departing Carstairs with a southbound service on 1st April 1977.

Like half of the class, 87020 was exported to Bulgaria in 2009 where it is still operational.

While GE export locomotives were sold to Hampton & Branchville and Santa Maria Valley and White Pass & Yukon had Alco export units, this may be the only EMD export unit to operate in the United States.

It is ex CN which had two groups of A1A-A1A G-8's; standard-gauge for use on prairie branch lines and narrow-gauge for Newfoundland as well as G-12's that it inherited from London & Port Stanley. The narrow-gauge G-8's remained A1A-A1A units throughout their service lives, while the standard gauge units were converted to B-B by simply removing the center axle.

This unit is one of the A1A standard-gauge units and you can easily see the space where the idler axle was removed from the trucks.

66001 passes Crewe Salop Goods Junction with 6O42 1131 Halewood (Jaguar Cars) to Southampton Eastern Docks on 7th February 2018.

The freight only location takes traffic north and south en route mainly to and through Basford Hall yard. Crewe station is out of sight behind the houses on the right of the picture.

The car train is seen on the Up Liverpool Independent line, with the Manchester Independents in the background.

Maximum speed on all lines at this point is 10mph, to account for the fact that all are worked Permissively and trains could be entering a section of track occupied by one or more trains. Visibility and track condition are also a consideration in the low PSR.
