There was an explosion in Tungelsta this afternoon. At least three people have been taken to hospital according to the owner of the company that I talked to. One of them was flown to Uppsala with serious burns. Fourteen fire trucks were at the scene along with many police cars, ambulances and one ambulance helicopter. 100 homes will be evacuated.

I caught the effect as Micha shot an unopened can of Big Red.

Northern hawk owls are skilled predators. They use hunting techniques very similar to hawks and small falcons. Active mostly by day, they primarily hunt from high perches bordering open habitats. They can be seen targeting their prey with a visible "pounce-like" posture just before swooping in for the kill. In the winter, they have been observed finding and catching prey hidden up to a foot under the snow surface. Additional hunting techniques include hovering, capturing prey in flight, low contour flying, soaring, and ground pursuit. These behavioral traits paired with a hawk-like appearance are why this owl is called the hawk owl.

Como eu ainda não tenho a versão que fiz na competição, estou postando a versão de estudo. Também foi feita em 20 minutos, mas sem a pressão e tudo o mais.

Muito obrigado a quem torceu, e parabéns aos vencedores!

This is the rear of the building damaged in the explosion and the view I have from the building I work in.

Sadly, the body of owner of the cafe located on the ground floor has been found in the building.

NOTE: These photos were not taken by me. I don't know who took them, just wanted to share.

Around 4AM we were awoken to explosions up the street.

These shots were without a tripod and I will try to get better ones in a little bit.

In typical brilliant Toronto planning fashion (esp for the old city of York, in the Downsview neighborhood) they thought having a propane facility right across the street from a residential neighborhood would be a great idea. On Aug 10, 2008, due to human stupidity, there was a huge explosion and the one death on site was the attendant who did not cause the explosion in the first place as well as a firefighter on scene who had a fatal heart attack. The nearby highway (the only one) was shut down for most of the next day as well as some flights in and out of the airport.

These photos are from 5 years after the explosion and many of the houses had been updated. Not sure what if anything can go on this site, but in this city I wouldn't surprised if it was condos.

I apologize for the ring of fire in my shots, I was testing a camera I obviously did not keep.

These sculptures of workmen moving explosives/ordnance in and out of the building greet visitors as they enter Explosion!, the museum of naval firepower at Priddy's Hard, Gosport. Along with the other naval museum sites, the Historic Dockyard and the Submarine Museum, this is well worth a visit. Allow plenty of time though! explosion.org.uk/

(This photo was taken at the Potter Park Zoo's "Wonderland of Lights" in Lansing, Michigan)

Let me explain how this shot was created. The shot was created all pre-exposure using several creative techniques.

Here is how it was done: using my 7D w/flash, I attached my LensBaby Composer onto it with an F/8 aperture. I then used my kid's DIFFRACTION glasses (sold by the zoo so the kids could experience the lights in a new psychedelic way) and held them up between the lens and a number of Christmas trees. That's it. I find it interesting that one can see the "sweet spot" of the LB (dark crescent blue in the center of the photo).
