Learning to observe.....Book club Week 1
I always imagined the inside of blueberries to be blue, so it was a surprise to find they weren't.

Island and wildlife cruise,
Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
18.3m (65ft).
The vessel started its life as a passenger boat in the Abel Tasman National Park as a passenger boat named Abel Tasman Explorer. Purchased it in 2015 and completed a refit of the interior and the engine in the same year. The Bay Explorer crew then took the boat from Motueka through French pass, Cook Strait and up the East Coast of the North Island, to its new home in Tauranga. it now operates as part of the successful business alongside its sister vessel, the KEWPIE (www.kewpiecruises.co.nz)
The far-famed valley came suddenly into view throughout almost its whole extent: the noble walls, sculptured into endless variety of domes and gables, spires and battlements and plain mural precipices, all a-tremble with the thunder tones of the falling water. The level bottom seemed to be dressed like a garden, sunny meadows here and there and groves of pine and oak, the river of Mercy sweeping in majesty through the midst of them and flashing back the sunbeams. --John Muir

A puffin with a meal for its baby, picture taken in Iceland this summer. It was great fun to watch them and i was glad to hear they were doing better than a few years ago.
I am still enjoying the pictures we took on our holiday so much. I ant to see lots more of Iceland, and then onto Norway, Sweden, Finland and then maybe Denmark again.... :) Reading about the Finnish educational system does not calm down my infatuation with everything Nordic/Scandinavian either.... how wonderful it must be to be a teacher in a society that values education and where being an educator is stil an honourable profession.
The beauty of hiking is the solitude in nature, the view on the top and just getting grounded to the basic needs of our everyday life: Food and shelter. In the mountains I easily disconnect, just focus on my goal and try to get as quick as possible to the top without long breaks. Every break slows you down and needs new overcoming to start again every time. On the top then, I celebrate my achievement.

Jeannie collects broken pottery and glass from all around Randsburg and makes stars by connecting the pieces with twisted wire. I don't usually photograph people, but she was so unique and friendly :-) Of course I had to buy one, and when I go back tomorrow I hope she is around so I can get a couple more :-)
P.S. Thanks Lara for reminding me of her name :-)
Update: Jeannie passed away some time ago, I miss seeing her when I go to Randsburg, she was very special.

I gave her a new nick name, "Little Explorer".
She loves going outside in the morning and late at night exploring her neighborhood. Like a proud parent, I put all my trust in her coming back home and she does, hungry for another meal after exploring and sometimes dirty and dingy from rolling in dirt LOL. She just got a bath today!
