Old soldiers never die they only fade away.

But the young ones do not die, no they are cut down instead.

And someone pulled the trigger, gave the order, held the sword,

And some one wrote the advert in the paper that they read.

Thy will be done,

But you won't get your hands on my son.

You can wait till kingdom come.

Today's Post finds me in the court yard of where I live. Looking at one of the trees with #Nemo in full swing. It's not as bad as the news was saying it would be, but it's still snowing so we'll see how much we get! Day38/365 #project365 - Nemo

i had planned to get a photo of Comet Neowise in the night sky from the edge of my garden as has become somewhat customary in the recent weeks, unfortunately nature has conspired against me by providing blankets of cloud at the wrong time. though tonight the sky was clear, unfortunately, the comet has lost its brightness and is now barely descernable, I've added an arrow to point it out.

I am not sure what the light trail is from in the upper region, i never noticed anything pass, though it is very bright, i expect it is a reflection of a passing satellite though please note that the ISS passed around 1/2 hr earlier and further to the south.

Somewhat unusual to see rain streaks so close to my house but the surface humidity was only 51 percent. This almost looks like virga but the rain was reaching the ground just beyond the house. 26 minutes later, a rain/hail downpour that lasted only 4 minutes produced around a quarter of an inch of precipitation and pea size hail that covered the ground: www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/40947522454/in/photost....

Looking out the window and seeing the ground covered and the trees laden with snow was a surprise and all sorts of thoughts came rushing into my mind.

Temple of Apollo in Palatia (Portara)

It is about the most imposing “door” of Cyclades, known as Portara to the locals which is located in the area of Palatia (“Palaces”). It stands out over the hill thanks to its great dimensions 54m x 28m. It was the gate of a temple dedicated to the god Apollo on an islet called Palatia which is connected with the rest part of the town with a stone paved path, work of the recent history.

It is a building of 6th century composed of 4 mololiths, which are made of Naxian marble of more than 6m in length and about 20 tons in weight. The construction of the temple was started by the tyrant Lygdamis in around 530 B.C. but it was never completed. There are many rumours related to the history of the temple. Its rectangular shape is orientated towards the island of Delos and it is probably associated with the god Apollo.

During the early Christian times the temple was turned into a basilica church, as it was usual in those times, and it was preserved until the period of the Venetian Rule. Several of its marble parts were used in the construction of the Castle. Moreover, according to the mythology, Theseus deserted Ariadne on the islet of Palatia and then came Dionysus and took her away.
