The steam from Mammoth Hot Springs condenses and freezes on nearby branches (and other things).

I rarely use flash, but did so here. Fortunately, it didn't light up the background at all.

While the mother bear watched from above, a feisty little yearling Alaskan brown bear cub felt brave enough to explore the wrack line below the driftwood logs piled up at the high tide line. Tall grasses and wildflowers grow between the logs. Cook Inlet, Alaska, Pacific Northwest.

One of the lovely little houses that I stayed in during my most recent exploration of Japan. My goal on that trip was to head out of the big cities and really get to know the normal day to day life of the wider country and it was an awesome experience.

Around the geothermally active area of Geysir, Iceland. The water here boils straight out of the ground. It really does seem like another world.

This one is taken on our way back to south dakota somewhere on the Highway 89. But for me it belongs to our short trip to yellowstone and reminds me of that very cold night, which we spend in the car, because neither our tent nor our sleeping bags were made for temperatures arround 2° C and fresh snow on the mountaintops. We were only prepared for summer temperatures. Well next time, we'll know better and won't behave like stupid tourists. ;)

While Natalie has been away for meeting some

flickr-friends in the Harz-Mountains, we 4 men have

had a very nice wellness-weekend.

Henry enjoys it to have a complete sofa for his own.

Just a cellphone shot because I had to be fast :)

Da ich schnell sein musste, ist dies nur ein Handy-Foto :)

HI!

My name is Jake. I want to thank all my Flickr friends who have wished me so well and awaited my arrival with such encouraging words, thoughts and prayers. Since I am a little bundle of joy [so I'm told] my daddy may be busy for a little while and unable to post as many pictures here as he usually does! That's OK. He will be changing diapers, helping me eat and introducing me to our new and wonderful world, one bird, bug, book and beautiful day at a time...
