A panorama from a stunning sunrise I enjoyed on a mid November Sunday morning in Banff.

This pano is 6 vertical images stitched together. Each of those was a blend of three exposures, so 18 images in all went in to creating this pano. Also a bit of witchcraft because the clouds were moving quite fast.

Captured along the Icefields Parkway Highway (93), Jasper National Park. Infrared image using a fully modified Canon EOSR and an 830nm filter.

The day was absolutely clear and crisp. Never have I seen the mountains this magnificent.

·Lake Moraine· Banff, Canada

We got up very early to visit Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. I had already shot a beautiful sunset of Lake Louise the previous night, but we still went to see it anyways. After all, we only had that day to enjoy these incredible sights so we couldn't say no.

Lake Louise was covered in fog, and it was impossible to see beyond 2 meters. So glad we had the view from the night before. Then, we got on our van and drove to Lake Moraine. It was spectacular. The colors, the glaciers, the view itself. Just as we had seen it in so many magazines and photographs.

The only problem was that the contrast between the sky (highlights) and the lake (shadows) was too hard. So I decided to bracket my exposure in order to be able to use all the information from all three photographs. As I was post processing it today, I tried to work with my regular exposure, the one that I take thinking on just the highlights, and thanks to the amazing recovery of the darkest areas that my camera can make, this is what I've managed to create. Hope you like it!

Winter Wonderland

Morning temps ranged from -32C with no wind to -26C with howling wind.

Red Rock Coulee is a unique spot in Southern Alberta. The red boulders scattered in this area are among the largest in the world. some are up to 2.5m in diameter, some are still whole and some are shattered like this one here. These boulders were formed in prehistoric seas when layers of sand, calcite and iron oxide collected around a nuclear made up of shells, leaves or bones.

I used an LED panel to light the foreground of this image.

Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta. It was the 3rd night of a short 4 days / 3 nights road trip to the Canadian Rockies. Sure the ride took most of the time. Roughly about 22 hours in total...

I think the time was well spent as for visiting different locations within the limited time we had.

This panorama is combined with 5 vertical shots. Plus one extra shot to under-expo the lights from the house. Blended in Photoshop first before the stitching.

Thank you for viewing!!

Thank you for LIKING, FOLLOWING and SHARING!!

Red topped aurora is relatively rare. They appear during geomagnetic storms that spread far from the poles. Red is caused by oxygen atoms meeting the solar wind as high as 500km above Earth's surface.

In late October I had the chance to spend a weekend out in Canmore, AB and was fortunate enough to get out along the river just as the sun started shining on Grassi, Ha Ling and Rundle Peaks.

How about that light!

While this photo isn't as large as the last one, I am still able to print this image huge! This one was 10 stitched photos, about 14000 pixels on the long end and set to a 3:1 aspect ratio.

This image and the other panorama, "A River Runs Through" are now available to purchase on my website. Would look great in someone's living room above the couch, or hanging in an office!

You know that feeling when you're just a young child and everything around you feels larger than life? I get that same feeling in the mountains, and I feel like it's the reason why we're so enamoured by them. Anything that can bring you back to feeling like a kid again is just awesome. Get out and explore and discover.
