Desejando um restinho de dia florido.

Normally I would reach for my trusty 60mm macro lens and tripod to take flower shots but today I tried an experiment!

This is on just about the cheapest lens in the Canon DSLR book (under £150 at Amazon) and hand-held.

The lens (55-250mm) is wide open at maximum zoom giving a very narrow depth of field which I think helps to draw attention to just a few flowers.

And sometimes, I don't develop all my pictures at once... sometimes I go back and go over them. I find treasures I didn't know I had.

Needless to say this one was staged before the Big B Berry shot !! Again great fun exploring DOF, light etc.

So I was bored in my hotel room at night with nothing to do. It was raining, or else I would've packed up the tripod and gone adventuring. Naturally, this causes me to crack open my camera pack for some relief. I'm not sure what I was intending to do, probably just looking for some inspiration. And inspiration I found. All these teeny, clear, spheroidal things were rolling about inside my pack. Turns out I never removed the packet of silica gel that came with the backpack, and it had finally ruptured. Well, they're small... and I happen to have a macro lens, a tripod, and a cool stone desk (thank you, Hyatt). Here is the result- a series of shots exploring DOF at 1:1 magnification, from f/2.8 all the way to f/22.
