Hell Hill Tragedy — On August 7, 1932, six young women went swimming in Hell Hill pond in Newfoundland, Canada, which ended in a triple drowning. It is alleged that the women held hands and ran into the pond only to encounter a sudden deep drop-off approximately 30 feet from the shore. Unfortunately, three women—Monica Daley (24), Esther Mullowney (25), and Mary Norris (33)—were unable to swim ashore and tragically drowned. Their bodies were rescued by nearby fishers, but were unable to be revived. A little white cross was lovingly erected in memorial of these women. ✞ Over the years, numerous ghost stories have been reported near Hell Hill.
